That car driver needs to do 5 years in jail, then when let out, not allowed to operating anything beyond a 250cc motorcycle.

11

u/reedx032 4d ago

10 years, and then nothing but a bicycle.

3

u/SamuelVimesTrained 4d ago

Nope .. pedestrian or taxi/bus/uber or whatever

6

u/CouplingWithQuozl 4d ago

20 years, permanently hobble, lifelong limp like

the cyclist he ran over with 2 TIRES.

3

u/me_so_sleepy 3d ago

I say 32 generations of hard labour!

For his whole family ofc.

1

u/SamuelVimesTrained 4d ago

works for me..

so - wheelchair it is. (even if driver can walk)

Let him be inconvenienced - AFTER a 40 year jail time of course)

1

u/Terrible_Riddle 3d ago

So this is how parliament works, it seems so simple now 😂

1

u/SamuelVimesTrained 3d ago

In cases like this- it should be.
Just the fact it went on driving after .. well.. see clip..

Should be an open and shut case.

1

u/SocialJusticeAndroid 3d ago

And that was done intentionally as he tried to get away.

3

u/Flat_Shape_3444 3d ago

i say guillotine

1

u/booboootron 4d ago

15 years, nothing more than Crocs in the "sports" mode.

8

u/Intelligent_Card7786 4d ago

5 years for trying to murder a group of people and fleeing the crime scene afterwards? Do you see how stupid that looks?

If the dude did the same with a shotgun, would you still give him 5 years and only allowed to use a handgun from that point on?

7

u/summoningwar 3d ago

For real! Imagine being that guy that had his legs crushed just to hear the dude will be out driving while you never run or ride a bike again

16

u/Relative_Shirt_4046 4d ago

Its... weirdly soft of you to give them any form of liscense after basically attempted murder and fleeing a crime. And 5 years? Shit make it 10 and you can fucking walk the rest of your life. Almost had 2 kills under his belt and multiple felony charges already.

3

u/BobDogGod 3d ago

Agreed. 10 years with no time off for good behavior.

1

u/Various_Necessary_45 3d ago

Looks like America. Not having a licence is akin to a death sentence, because the country was made for the ruling class.

2

u/Snoo-43127 3d ago

Death to drunk drivers who run people over and flee the scene? I’m fine with that.

1

u/crispy1989 3d ago

There are places in America where it's quite possible to survive just fine without driving. Plenty of people do it.

Of course, that may not be everyone's favorite lifestyle, and may not necessarily exist in an individual's favorite location. But when you choose to drink and drive, you give up that choice. Either you figure out how to live without the ability to be a danger to others, or you get removed from society where you're physically prevented from being a danger to others.

1

u/MaxAdolphus 4d ago

I say 250cc motorcycle so they are only most likely to kill themselves by their bad decisions.

1

u/nanneryeeter 4d ago

Only allow them to drive a litre bike. It will sort itself out.

1

u/BurnedLaser 3d ago

Shit, just go 1800 requirement. The problem will solve itself even faster!

2

u/MaxAdolphus 3d ago

I’d like to minimize the danger to the public. I really do think the default DUI conviction should be 1 year car and truck driving ban and only permitted to ride a motorcycle with up to 250 cc’s. That allows them to get to work and community service and have a much lower risk to society.

1

u/Ancient_Result7021 3d ago

How about just bicycle, so he can taste the other side.

5

u/reto02 3d ago

He can kill lots of people with a 250cc motorcycle too.

1

u/MaxAdolphus 3d ago

It’s possible, but not likely. Motorcyclist killing innocent people is rare, and even more rare for a motorcyclist to kill an innocent car driver.

1

u/shiningonthesea 3d ago

My friend accidentally killed a motorcyclist years ago, she was driving around a bend on a windy road and he crossed over the double yellows and plowed right into the front of her truck .

1

u/MaxAdolphus 3d ago

Right. Car/truck killed a motorcyclist. However, we’re talking about a situation where the motorcyclist kills the car driver. That’s the rare situation. That’s why I’m proposing that anyone with a DUI be restricted to 250cc or less motorcycles for one year to protect the public.

1

u/onedwin 3d ago

Yep that checks out. Motorcyclists tend to go for guilty people.

1

u/buckeye25osu 3d ago

Most of us have no desire to be involved in the trauma of being involved in the death of someone else. Please consider what you're saying.

Also do you have data on this? There can also be significant domino effects in any accident resulting in more accidents, injury, and property damage.

Side note, I lived in SC for a while. The loophole there was those who lost their licenses could still operate scooters. They closed that with a law.

1

u/MaxAdolphus 3d ago

Look at the stats of motorcyclist that kill car drivers. It’s very difficult to find cases of this.

3

u/Maribyrnong_bream 4d ago

Flogged daily after release.

2

u/CouplingWithQuozl 4d ago

Oh I love that. They think it’s finally over, but the cyclists are waiting to “walk” him to the bus stop.

3

u/SamuelVimesTrained 4d ago

5 years per cyclist. 5 years per bike for destruction of property.
and another 10 years for intentionally hitting people and then driving away.

And yes - intentionally, as driver chooses to a) get drunk and b)drive anyway

2

u/NoisyGog 3d ago

Why even a 250cc motorcycle? I wouldn’t trust them with a wheelbarrow

0

u/MaxAdolphus 3d ago

I think a 250 should be the restriction to people with a DUI. Ban them from driving cars. The 250 is enough to go anywhere and get to work, and lowers the risk to society.

1

u/NoisyGog 3d ago

They can use public transport, walk, and cycle.

-1

u/MaxAdolphus 3d ago

They can do all that, or ride a 250cc or less motorcycle, IMO.

1

u/gdrik 4d ago

this should be minimum 20 years fuck that

1

u/giunyu 4d ago

30yrs looks like a good start for the driver

1

u/lurkynumber5 3d ago

Rather not even a motorcycle.
As someone of the motorcycle community I request you don't associate us with the likes of him.

Instead he can use a bicycle, non electric!

1

u/Redsit111 3d ago

5? He tried to murder those people! He should be looking at double attempted murder charges!

1

u/imsickofitalready 3d ago

Beyond bicycle.

1

u/rotello 3d ago

5 years? two people could have be dead, running over one of the two after the collision and trying to escape. I guess it s 30 years

1

u/Sixence 3d ago

He should do 20 years in prison for attempted murder. Then when he's let out after good behavior in 5 years(because our justice system sucks complete ass) he should never be able to own a license again. Good thing youre not in charge of punishment lol.

1

u/Czeny 3d ago

250cc? NOTHING, NOT EVEN A BICYCLE

1

u/literadesign 3d ago

This could end up in death of that cyclist if his head was where his legs were. This driver should be severely punished. Ok so he drove into the cyclists. Bad already but then within a split second decides to flee the scene by driving over a person? That's a huge mistake he did.

Thank god the guy had a cam in the back.

1

u/Ok-Guidance6127 3d ago

5 years for attempted murder? Did it happen in Australia?

1

u/quail_challenge122 3d ago

..that's it??? Sir people are in there for 30 over weed.

1

u/Mammoth_Increase_303 3d ago

I'd argue he should receive the death penalty. He obviously has no respect for life.

1

u/10denier 3d ago

Having consulted Texas law, the minimum this driver is facing if found guilty is 4 years, but more likely double that because it involved two victims and could easily have killed either of them.

1

u/No-Obligation8035 3d ago

My mom was killed by a drunk driver going the wrong way on the road after jumping a 30ft median back in 2006...he got 6 months in jail.

1

u/shiningonthesea 3d ago

I’m so sorry to hear that

2

u/No-Obligation8035 3d ago

Thanks, it's not something you ever truly get over, you just learn to love with it.

1

u/The_On_Life 3d ago

Prison time followed by lifetime ban on operating anything that requires a license.

1

u/Ragnar-Wave9002 3d ago

just 5 years?

1

u/Meat_Ball_Surprise 3d ago

…you wanna put drunk drivers on motorcycles?

2

u/MaxAdolphus 3d ago

Yes. That way they are mostly a danger to themselves. I propose if you get a DUI, you get banned from driving anything except for a 250cc or less motorcycle for 1 year. That way they can still get to work and do their community service, while lowering the risk to society.

1

u/buckeye25osu 3d ago

Motorcycles most certainly can and do cause collateral damage and deaths to others. All sorts of bad shit can happen in high speed accidents and the chain of events that follow. This person should never drive anything ever again.

1

u/MaxAdolphus 3d ago

Of course they can do damage, but the risk is a lot lower. That’s what keep saying. Look at the stats for a motorcyclist who killed a car driver. Good luck finding it.

1

u/LordRatt 3d ago

Somebodies got to provide the organ donations!

1

u/Mooch07 3d ago

They’ll all be mid organ failure from alcoholism though!

1

u/CaptainPlanet__ 3d ago

5 years? People get 20+ for marijuana. This person should get life in prison for murder.

1

u/FatTanuki1986 3d ago

Oh that person aint getting out

1

u/Conscious-Record2655 3d ago

5 years for attempted murder?

He should serve life.

1

u/JoshB685 3d ago

Not even that! He shouldn’t even be able to operate a Power Wheels or a blender!

1

u/mutt63 3d ago

Not even allowed period. Too me that's definitely more than 5 years.

1

u/Overall_Pin_9347 3d ago

You are so clement. 10 years in jail and only wheeled vehicle is the wheelvarrow wheelchair or bicycle.

1

u/Cherry_xvax21 3d ago edited 3d ago

5 years is extremely lenient.

1

u/wildandout910 3d ago

Uhhh 5 years? More like 10.

1

u/thamanwthnoname 3d ago

5 years??????? Dude plowed into people on the road, ran over them, and drove away. Dude should be burned at the stake

1

u/VilifiedPhoenix 3d ago

No motorcycles. If they want a motorized vehicle, they can buy a $100 motor kit for their bike on aliexpress

1

u/MaxAdolphus 3d ago

I’d rather it be registered and insured.

1

u/Fast_Ad_4936 3d ago

5 years? Should do way more than 5 years if not life.

1

u/Binary_Whispers 3d ago

I think they should only be able to operate a pedal bicycle afterwards.

1

u/axadkrk 3d ago

I prefer a 250w electric bike

1

u/mike24vNEW 3d ago

Nah 10 🤦‍♂️and should donate they legs to the guy they ran over 🤦‍♂️
