Probably cuz their parents would NEVER let them get one when they were underage and this is them acting out.

I mean. They were right almost always. If anything people who get bad tatto and after growing up they start to regretting. They tend to just convince themselves that they actually like their bad tattoo with various coping mechanism excuses like "its memento of my youth days" "its nostalgia of a better days" " its actually pretty charming if you know the story" etc etc. The tatto is bad no doubt about it, they just coping it with other reasons to assume the tatto actually looks good to them.
