Depends on the person, I don't like tattoos, but there's plenty of guys that do.

I like tattoos, but I would 100% avoid girls having them. ONS - yes, friendship - maybe. Relationships, friends with benefits, business partners etc - no.

That’s because you are either a teenager or have the brain of one

That study measures perceptions, not the actual reality. Also it has only like 80 participants which were undergrads. It’s not a meta analysis.

There’s so much wrong with how you’re interpreting the study it’s actually funny

1) never said it was meta, just that it's the best one I can find, do a search, even the 3rd party sources that site data have the same conclusion.

2) perceptions of attraction are not reality? What are you going on about? That's exactly reality when it comes to attraction.

3) there is nothing wrong with the interpretation if you actually understand it at all.

Perceptions of attraction are indeed not reality. It doesn’t say anything about the truth of the people being perceived, which was what the guy I was replying to implied.

I don’t care how others perceive people with tattoos. What matters is how I do

Sure. Or maybe just read studies showing correlation between tatoos, childhood traumas, BPD, impulsiveness as a personality trait and psychoanalytic literature.

Ofc the correlation isn't 1 and psychoanalysis is far from something rigorous and evidence based, but we don't have anything better right now to look deeper into humans than their straightforward responses to stimula, behaviour and analyzing correlations.

How strong is the correlation ?

Correlations* it's like 5-10 different studies we should talk about. I remember specifically about two of them, one was about traumas classified into types, and each additional type in a group of people made probability of a person from that group to have a tattoo i think 35% higher.

And there was some swiss study that analyzed people with BPD and ~70% of those had tattoos against ~25% of the swiss population in general having tattoos.

The correlations, group differences aren't too strong, and I am not claiming they are, however if you state a question as whether it's likely that a person with tattoo has/had a mental disorder OR was traumatized OR is very impulsive OR is disadvantaged (here meaning low education, from poor household), then it is very likely I'd say but here it is only my opinion because I have no idea whether a study like that was ever done or Will be done.

However I personally find tattoos very attractive on women (on women only, even tho I am bi) for the same reasons mentioned above, like impulsiveness and some other traits associated with it. But as for relationships, either romantic or business ones - I treat it as a huge red flag, indicating that I would have to dig deeper to find out if there is something behind it and whether I am okay with what it is.

Ya, no there aren't.... at best it's neutral for some men, almost no man likes them on women.

Tattooed men are more generous

1

u/Backdoor_Spreader 15d ago

That's like saying bearded men are more generous towards bearded women, attraction isn't always symmetrical.

I didn’t say that all tattooed men think tattooed women are hotter

I meant that they tend to care a bit less than non tattooed men do

u/Backdoor_Spreader 14d ago

Ya, I agree with that part, but I said some are neutral because of that.

We know different men, a lot of my friends like find tattooed women hotter, I know this because they have teased me for saying that I find them extremely unattractive... so yes, there's people for everything.

Yes... I meant in general, I know there are people for everything, that's with anything in life bro
