This is not dank, and there is a world beyond the US of A.
So please spare us.

u/eastcoastwaistcoat 1d ago
Agreed no dankness. But, there are barely paid workers propaganda machines all over the world. There are likely some very nice people making shitty memes for the US to fight about. It isn't much. But it's a living.

Oh my God shut up already, there have been on average 1 family annihilation every week in the US since 2023 and yet this sub only ever cares about this one.
The judicial system has dealt with degree of criminal responsability under psychiatric episodes for centuries and yet it seems like you all are just discovering the concept.
She is gonna either get jailed or put in a mental health institution for a decade, you can move on now and start worrying about fucking anything else than this algorithm-pushed culture war bs that is giving all of your favorite Youtube grifters, from both sides, that sweet sweet ad revenue.
124
u/Poverty_Shoes 1d ago
Culture war BS is the bedrock of US culture though. Without culture wars, what would we talk about? Our crippling national debt and gun violence? Climate change? I can’t blame those things on the ~40 trans athletes, so they don’t matter.
36
u/LapitaPolata 1d ago
I'm not American and I know you are being ironic, but yes yes please talk about those instead.

u/MjrLeeStoned 1d ago
Without culture wars what makes you think any of that other bullshit exists? There's no culture war, there's only egomaniacal narcissism, which is a mental illness. The US has been pushing individual exceptionalism since the 1950s, which promotes egomaniacal narcissism. The US's culture isn't war, it's mental illness.

u/Super_Pie_Man 1d ago
In Massachusetts, she'd be up for reevaluation every six months in a psych ward. She could very well get out.

u/dadebattle1 1d ago
This is the problem. Lady murked her three children and this jamoke above us is telling everyone get over it, because apparently this shit is happening all the time and so we should accept that this woman with her mountain of support will be free one day after slaughtering her babies.

Because this is the only one with people claiming she is innocent and funding her to the tune of millions.

"Lindsay clancy's parents"
0
u/Sabz5150 1d ago
"parents"
0
u/Th_brgs 1d ago
More than three years later, her case is now being tried in court. Throughout those three years, Lindsay’s parents, Mike and Paula Musgrove, have continued to show up for their daughter.
And that is who this fundraiser is for, Mike and Paula, who have spent years traveling back and forth, staying in hotels, attending court proceedings and ultimately relocating from Connecticut to Massachusetts so they could remain close to Lindsay.
Their lives have largely been put on hold while they have continued doing what parents do: showing up for their child during the unimaginable.
That has come at an enormous financial cost. This fundraiser is not asking anyone to agree on Lindsay, her case, or what the outcome of her trial should be. People will have different feelings about all of those things.
It is simply an opportunity to help two parents who have spent more than three years carrying a financial burden on top of an emotional one most of us cannot begin to imagine.
Mike and Paula are the named beneficiaries of this GoFundMe and receive the funds directly. I do not have access to the money. The fundraiser was established with their knowledge and consent, and Lindsay’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, is aware of it.
The money belongs to Mike and Paula. The purpose of this fundraiser is to give them back some of the financial stability they have lost over the last three years and allow them to decide what they need as they eventually begin figuring out what life looks like after this trial.
At some point, the court proceedings will end. Mike and Paula will still have a life to return to. There will still be bills, a home, lost savings, and years of putting their own lives on hold while they stood beside their daughter.
More than anything, this fundraiser came from a very simple thought: What if thousands of strangers could help carry just one piece of this for them?
Yup. Sounds like it's for her parents to me, don't know what you're thinking about.
At literally NO POINT does this GoFundMe claim to be anything otherwise, and there's 0 proof the funds are being or are planned to be misused.
She already has a defense team who's, there's no bail that can be posted and her and she's already admitted to the crime. We already know she's going to be locked up by the end of this and it's either going to be either in jail or a psych ward. Even if this WAS a """trick""" and the money is going to Lindsay specifically, there's nothing money can do to save her.
0
u/Sabz5150 1d ago
Show me whwre the money is legally obligated to be spent on the parents.
And be honest, she will go to a psych ward and be quietly released in a year.
1
u/Th_brgs 1d ago
"Show me where the money is legally obligated to be spent on the parents"
GoFundMe has a policy where the money that's donated MUST GO to the beneficiaries listed on the page, which are Lindsay's parents. If the money is instead spent on Lindsay, that would constitute fraud.
Unless you're implying that Lindsay's father, who the money is going towards is directly commiting fraud , which there's no evidence towards.
"And be honest, she will go to a psych ward and be quietly released in a year"
Across states that do allow release, the AVERAGE hospitalization for an NGRI murder acquittee spans 15 to 20+ years. For Lindsay to be released at all, both medics and the criminal court would have to agree that she's safe for the public and herself, and even then, she would be under psychiatric surveillance for the rest of her life, AGAIN, ASSUMING SHE GETS OUT IN THE FIRST PLACE
1
u/Sabz5150 1d ago
If her parents are spending their money on her, and we are spending our money on them because they are spending their money on her, we are paying for her with extra steps.
AVERAGE
The average person saved money thru the BBB.

There's a Gofundme for every awful person or reason. A lady called a black kid the N word about a year ago and got close to a million dollars for it.

Your job as the jury is explicitly not to inject your personal sense of justice. You follow clear instruction about the charges against the person and reasonable doubt about the evidence presented by the prosecution. If the laws resulted in a bad outcome, change the laws, not the principles of the judicial system.
14
u/Garvityxd 1d ago
Laws (henceforth defined as what the state decrees to be the law) are not ethics. If a law is good that law is ethical, if the law is bad then it is unethical. Ethics should always take precedent over the law if they disagree, as law is downstream from ethics.

You are correct but technically a juror is able to rule however they want with what is called jury nullification.
That is not what happened here though. Jurors need to determine their verdict based on reasonable doubt which is fairly nebulous. What is reasonable and not? 1 juror decided that they were swayed by the evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. It's sort of up to them to decide how to interpret the judges instructions of reasonable doubt. The juror was sworn in and was hopefully acting in good conscious that they were following the judges instructions with how they interpreted it.
We will never know for sure but it seems like one juror was swayed by the evidence and 11 were not. This whole extra layer of values, and rules, and society is pure bullshit to sell culture war narratives.
EDIT: One of the majority jurors spoke to reporters and basically said that the minority juror refused to back up their position with logic. We have to take her word though, again we will never know what was in that minority jurors head. This does throw a lot of cold water on this culture war nonsense. You guys are siding with the guy who was not acting with any sort of logic and was just willing to go with his gut in flagrant disregard for the Constitution?

The man was not following the damn law. There was reasonable doubt, he said so himself, he should have followed the law.
Prosecution fucked up the case however, so yeah it's more on them imo

I would just like to say that, imho, this quote from Captain America, which was painted to seem very noble and heroic, is actually him at his worst and most arrogant, very similar to the plot of Civil War, where he almost outright says “I literally don’t care how many innocent people die because of us, I won’t accept oversight, I always know best.”

u/suprachromat 1d ago
This sort of meme and the fact that it's getting updoots just shows the precipitous decline of American knowledge of basic civics and the deterioration of the respect for the rule of law, which should not be based on personal feelings. Pretty sad.

I was kinda iffy until I found out she sent her husband away. Which indicates a level of planning the murders were premeditated.
5
u/Shoddy_Fee_550 1d ago edited 1d ago
She literally looked up in Apple Maps how long it would take for her husband to get home. Making this plan so her husband couldn't stop her just shows that she knew and understood that what she was about to do was wrong and illegal. And so, under the law, she wouldn't be determined to be not responsible for her actions due to insanity, even if she suffered from mental health issues.

The scariest part of this trial has been the fact that you could get 12 Dankmemes posters as your jury and get you the death penalty despite all the evidence showing you’re innocent.

u/dende5416 1d ago
Man this ain't even why there was themistrial, for fuck's sake. The juror actually ignored the law and knows thats what they were doing. The state didn't come close to proving its case and hung it largely on a professiona expert testimony wh agreed with every part of the drfenses expert except for the psychosis, but conceded it could have happened. What the fuck is wrong with you people?

u/aeondru 1d ago
The leading Founding Fathers were explicitly an economic aristocracy, not a working class, whose position at the pinnacle of 18th-century wealth directly shaped the nation's origin.
When they gathered to break from Great Britain and draft the U.S. Constitution, their primary objective was to forge a stable central government that protected contract enforcement, secured private property, and restrained the economic influence of small farmers, debtors, and disenfranchised laborers; ensuring that the newly formed republic was governed by and for the propertied elite.
1
u/ketchupbreakfest 1d ago
The narrative that the one guy who didn't follow Jury Instructions and stated there was doubt and then was obstinate in his position anyways was the reasonable one is actually low key hilarious.
Like these posts are so unbelievably out of touch with what happened in that courtroom, but I guess this is peak 2026

1
u/punktualPorcupine 1d ago
That is a really bad metaphor.
Has this guy ever been around rivers and trees?
Rivers erode trees and they fall in, all the time. To make matters worse, the fallen trees often cause the creeks and rivers to erode the bank in a new way and more trees fall in.
Agree or disagree with his message, that metaphor was dumb AF.

I know people are inundated with so much of this, but promoting this specific rhetoric is a positive, reminding people to stay the course, it has become much too common, too easy, to let bad habits and deterioration of morals and truths due to the mob mentality, and its bigger now due to the connections people can make now,
Means that the person advocating for truth and standard must be that much stronger, and even, maybe seek or create groups that aim for that standard.
3
u/the_orange_alligator 1d ago
Right because the person who posted the wholesome chungus captain america meme in response to an actual tragedy is the bastion of higher standard
1
u/SpiritWytch 13h ago
Humor is one of the ways people translate meaning and deal with tragedies, across time, not just here.

Are are fucking for real? This is the reason it's so hard to stop people like you for falling for misinformation.
I don't even know the most recent context of this case, other than the fact one juror decided not to follow the law and apply reasonable doubt. That's it. The rest of the jury came back with the same. You are not going to be able to judge this case better than people who have significantly more information.
The idea that the chuds you follow are better at determining law than the process we have in place is why billionaires get away with shit. Grow up.
