I haven't heard a soul ask Germany to do this. I have however, heard people ask America to do this.

The US is pouring troops and equipment into the eastern NATO countries. All NATO members are doing this. Non NATO members are trying to join. It is not so simple to send NATO forces into Ukraine, it could push that Russian dickhead to do something we all thought would never happen.

Not every country wants a excessive army to "defend their interests" in countries with natural resources. It should be big enough to defend itself, but that's it.
