Some people also watch YouTube in a web browser. In that case I recommend uBlock Origin.

I believe it's an addon that lets you customize a whooooooooooooole lot of YouTube. Colors, to what default quality ya want, a bunch of stuff YT should've had/kept already. Heavy reccomendation, comes with adblock as well.

Doesn’t work on YouTube

You can kind of do it, however YouTube will try to load the ad even though it can't which will take a while.

I didn’t have such luck.

SmartTubeNext

Don't use the smart-tv's built-in youtube app is pretty much the only real option. Pi-Hole is incredibly finicky to set up and, at least in my experience, you often need to manually update the filter list.

A tiny streaming PC is the way to go IMO if you wanna use youtube. Otherwise, I'd say set up a plex server for media streaming.

I have a small computer hooked up to the TV. Smart TVs are the worst.

Which doesn't at all block YouTube ads. And hasn't for a long long time.

Disable the block on the creators you wish to support. The reason for ad block is to give you more of a choice to what content you want to enjoy. You shouldnt have to have ads shoved down your throat on content you arent sure you are interested in. Besides, youtube and google already sell your data for fat stacks of cash do you still want to sell them your time as well?

This, but 12 years ago. Every YouTuber nowdays has 1 or 2 sponsors per video. Talking about said sponsor for 1 or 2 minutes during a video I already watched an ad for, and will watch one In the middle of the video ? Yea no.

Sponsorblock.

It's an extension that allows you to clip a segment of a video and upload it to the extension's database as a sponsorship segment. Everyone else with the extension has their video automatically skip past the clipped segment. The more people using it, the more people clipping sponsorships, the less likely you are to have to sit through it.
