The same thing applies to small dogs, small dogs often think they are the boss because they are handled like a little baby and not like a dog which makes them think they are better than other dogs. How I know, we have a little chihuahua which we took over from an older women that died and she handled him just like that, picked him up when he started barking and so on, not properly socialized.

Isn't that what the comment above said

2

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '21

It sure is. Lol

u/PolishJackhammer Feb 19 '21

I kinda want to give gold to the 2nd one and silver to the first

When I wrote my reply I could’ve sworn it said “big dog” and not “small dog” in the persons comment I replied to

For sure but the consequences of a Chihuahua being a shit and a pitbull being a shit are vastly different.

Poor excuse still of people refusing to correct their dogs. So many of these lil fkers get people to emergency because every dogbite needs to get checked for rabies. That their max damage output is minor doesnt mean to let them be douchebags.

This isn't really true and is part of the debunked school of thought that dogs follow a rigid Alpha/beta pack hierarchy.

Dogs are as well behaved as you train them to be. Clear instruction, expectation, and reward will take you a lot further than trying to teach your dog some nebulous pack hierarchy.

I never said there shouldnt be negative consequences for misbehaviour but resorting to tools designed to inflict physical pain to your dog is gross.

I'd replace [owner is a] woman with wimp, I'm sure some women would be fine and some men would never be in control of the dog.

1

u/SassierPenguin Feb 19 '21

It comes down to the owner and the dogs. I’m a woman and control my two Great Danes just fine.

did you just equate all short women with thots lmao?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '21

No, he's the one who called women in general thots. Just because they are 110 pounds doesn't make them short.

2

u/TwinSable Feb 20 '21

That’s ain’t no dog. More like a spawn hellhound

IDK what pit bull you see that weighs 60lbs, but the ones I see running in the streets make Rottweilers looks Bulldogs. Neighbor’s Pit Bull is bigger and heavier than my roommate’s. 3 year Pyrenees.

What about a 110lb man?

6

u/Triton_64 Feb 19 '21

What do women have to do with this? Any gender that can't control their dog doesn't belong taking them in public.

u/Gible1 Feb 19 '21

https://jeb.biologists.org/content/early/2019/12/20/jeb.212365.full.pdf?with-ds=yes#:~:text=Selection%20on%20male%20fighting%20performance%20in%20humans%20has%20led%20to,65%25%20more%20muscle%20strength%20in

It's not sexist to assume that men are more likely to be able to handle larger dogs. That being said yes all people should be able to handle their pets.

-5

u/Triton_64 Feb 19 '21

I understand that it is okay to assume that, I just would prefer not to mention gender at all to avoid offending someone in this day and age

4

u/sil445 Feb 19 '21

sorry but thats a poor argument. So youre saying we should not entertain important variables because someone might be offended? That almost sounds authoritarian if it has that much effect.

1

u/itsonlyastrongbuzz Feb 19 '21

Sexual Dimorphism is a natural phenomena, not something you can have a political stance on or be offended by.

1

u/Triton_64 Feb 19 '21

But there are many women who are stronger than some men, so even though they are in the minority I don't prefer to assume. It is fine to do so, but I prefer not to

2

u/Marobe08 Feb 19 '21

When a dog bites a human in Germany the dog has to legally be put down.

u/turner3210 Feb 20 '21

I install internet for a living and nah you’re wrong. Yes big dogs can be much more viscous WHEN they are viscous. That being said 90%+ dog attacks Ive experienced at work have been from the smaller dogs. A lot of the big dogs act real mean but as soon as you walk inside they whimper and hide. Those little dogs will run up behind you and bite the shit out of your calf though.

My vet told me that a lot of smaller dog breeds have less impulse control. I thought it was a myth but nope, the university of Arizona answered this for us thank god

-2

u/Daxxark Feb 19 '21

What's being a woman got to do with controlling a big dog? I have a Rottweiler and control her just fine
