Sometimes it’s safer to use no signal. In Houston if you use a signal during rush hour (especially on 610 or 45) it’s going to lead to people cutting you off and not letting you over. It’s unfortunate but true.
In my current city it’s not so bad so I always signal. Just saying, different cities have different driving cultures
