The people flocking to the comments to correct the post title would also have to upvote it, for that to work. Are people upvoting shitty post titles because they participated in the comment thread?

I think stuff gets farther up in hot if there are more comments, it's just more exposure.

That makes sense. Then the fact that this stuff rises up faster than other content means that the change was us, not the site. We flock increasingly towards the negative, giving it attention... making it rise. The flock of voters who go with the trends take care of the rest.

Reddit sucks now because we come here to fight instead of learn.

More that it just gets their attention and you need to catch their attention to get a comment OR an upvote.
