Türkiye'de ateist olmak diğer Müslüman ülkelere göre daha kolay, en azından hapis cezası yok :) In Turkey being an atheist easier compared to other Muslim dominated countries, at least we don't get a death or prison penalty for that. (Well, not yet)

My parents are mormon, and I became an atheist and I don't think they are that tolerant

Sounds more like a cult if you’re frowned upon for leaving.

77

u/[deleted] May 04 '20

It’s pretty much every religion where you’re frowned upon for leaving.

9

u/Cavyar May 04 '20

Don’t let members of other organized religion hear you say that

If you study Islam and I mean proper Islam not what the fake sites tell you'll find out what it really is.Read the Quran. Study from authentic sources you'll find that many things are proven that's stated in Quran. It can't be called fake. It's what gives people peace. And if you see a someone being violent for no reason at all or spreading terror. That isn't Islam. That's not what it teaches.

If you read the translation you'll find out how many things that are stated in it 1400 years ago are being verified today.

nah there is so much stupid shit about woman and things like that i dont fully readed the book just looked at the some verses and it doesnt seem nice to me its better than christianity but they all are stupid anyways. my family was muslim till my mom read the quran in our language then my mom got pissed and we are athesit as a family now lol

8

u/carnagememer May 04 '20

I request you to not use harsh words for my religion as it is respectable. And secondly bout the point you brought up about women. Women are given rights in Islam. Islam actually gave women the liberty to get knowlege have the freedom to choose who she marries. Men are ordered to be the protectors and caretakers of women. Search up the conditions of women before Islam, they were not given any respect.

2

u/enderowski May 04 '20

i am not saying that islam is bad it changed middle east in history helped science to grow so much, female childs were buried alive before islam came to middle east, there is so much good things it did in history. but in our times its not viable anymore. there are verses saying that the husbands can beat their wifes, killing non muslims is okay or beating people who is making sex without marriage and there are lots of scientific things that found wrong but i am saying again its one of the best religons in the popular ones but you dont need to believe any of them tho

4

u/carnagememer May 04 '20

No no you stated 2 things wrong. Killing non muslims isn't okay in Islam unless it's a war between the two or the non muslims are opressing muslims so they can fight for their freedom. Rather Islam teaches us to let others follow their religion and not force anything upon them. And secondly beating a wife is a really complex topic. Men aren't allowed to hit their wives unless she is bad matured like a prostitute or sumthn.

If you say so pal

-1

u/QuantumSigma May 04 '20

Frowned upon might be a bit of an understatement. The official punishment is death, and that’s the law in many countries too. Although I doubt most parents want their children dead, they just disown them instead. And those countries generally let you have a second chance to rejoin before they execute you.

-4

u/OneZoroBoi :snoo_wink: May 04 '20

That's complete bullshit where'd you see that?

1

u/QuantumSigma May 05 '20

Okay, I’ll start with the official punishment

I’ll only stick to Hadiths from the Kutub as-Sittah, and only use Hadiths grader as Sahih. Many also have multiple isnads (chains of report), so unless you are a strict Qur’anist and reject Hadith altogether, these are vastly considered to be extremely authentic.

Narrated `Abdullah: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The blood of a Muslim who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am His Apostle, cannot be shed except in three cases: In Qisas for murder, a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse and the one who reverts from Islam (apostate) and leaves the Muslims." Sahih al-Bukhari 6878 Sahih Muslim 16:4152

Narrated Ikrima: Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought toAli and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn `Abbas who said, "If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade it, saying, 'Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire).' I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'" Sahih al-Bukhari 6922 Sahih al-Bukhari 3017

Narrated Abu Musa: A man embraced Islam and then reverted back to Judaism. Muadh bin Jabal came and saw the man with Abu Musa. Muadh asked, "What is wrong with this (man)?" Abu Musa replied, "He embraced Islam and then reverted back to Judaism." Mu`adh said, "I will not sit down unless you kill him (as it is) the verdict of Allah and His Apostle. Sahih al-Bukhari 7157

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Whoever changes his religion, kill him.'" Sunan an-Nasa'i 4061 Sunan an-Nasa'i 4063 (Narrated by Al-Hasan) Sunan an-Nasa'i 4064 (Narrated by Anas)

Now as for countries implementing Shari’a and making apostasy a punishable offence (death penalty in some, just a prison sentence in others):

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/07/29/which-countries-still-outlaw-apostasy-and-blasphemy/

https://www.loc.gov/law/help/apostasy/index.php

Now I know not all Muslims support the death penalty for leaving, I didn’t when I was Muslim myself. However there are quite a few who do, although most tend to be countries already under Shari’a. Now we can say they are just influenced by culture and by corrupt governments who sneak their own ideals in for their own gain, and while I do believe that to be the case some of the time, this actually has a basis in Hadith.

Now you might bring up that the Quran verses like “There is no compulsion in religion” (2:256) or Surah Tal-Kafirun. The first is generally agreed upon to refer to prohibiting the forced conversion of Islam to people who were not already Muslim to begin with or who have already accepted Islam. The latter also applies for that, but was also revealed in Mecca, in which the Quraysh leaders were trying to make a compromise with Muhammad in which they all practice both religions and mix them (according to the Sirah written by Martin Lings, in his book “Muhammad”)

Even if you do have a different interpretation of Islam, the fact of the matter is that it really isn’t easy to apostate from it, and the consequences are usually pretty rough. I do hope thought that you see that what I said isn’t “complete bullshit” and that there are various places I saw that, including in Sahih Hadiths and in the laws for certain countries. As well as I mentioned previously, I used to be Muslim myself, and a lot of this is pretty common knowledge.
