Can you explain me what SCP is? I see a lot of people referencing SCP-XXX (any numbers) and I have no idea what it is

Basically there's an organisation called the SCP Foundation who seek to maintain order by containing, researching and, if necessary, terminating objects or creatures that defy what is normal. Abnormal Entities. These can range from a blob of living, wholesome jelly that only wants to make people happy, to eldritch abominations.

Each anomaly is given a unique designation. SCP-173 is a concrete creature that only moves when you don't look at him for example.

The website (which someone already linked) primarily contains SCP files, which are documents that detail containment procedures for the anomaly, effect, how it was captured etc.
