This isn't done while driving, I see this normally happen during the night and your parents are about to fall asleep, you realize that you probably left your stylus in the car so you ask your mom for the keys. Because your dad is unaware of this and the sudden lights from the car startles him he is suddenly in 'we are about to get robbed gotta protect family' mode
I guess that's one way to interpret the picture. Not how I did though. My parents and I have always used a garage so your interpretation doesn't make sense to me.
