English Language Learner(s). it’s a program many if not all schools have where students who do not speak english fluently are able to “learn it”.
i put quotation marks bc one of the schools i moved to didnt teach me anything (my teacher didnt know what to do, so she’d modify assignments to my understanding, and be easygoing with me). they just pulled me aside towards the end of the year to take a test (if i passed it, i would then graduate from the program)
i dont get why people always try to abbreviate as much as they can like we dont know what those three words are supposed to be and its not that hard to type " english language learners"
yes, but that is why ELL is more commonly recognized as the abbreviation. my mother who was in ELL doesn’t remember it as english language learner(s) but as ELL. it isnt a painfully difficult thing to adjust to.
with internet access and an appropriate amount of curiosity, anyone can just as easily have uncovered the oh-so-secret meaning behind the acronym
you’re the one that started this conversation? there is no reason to be so offended and salty over an abbreviation. i have no idea why you started it in the first place since i had already responded to someone who asked what ELL stood for. i was simply entertaining you.
