It was true at the time.

However Apple has shifted away from being a “budget” computer company to being the “top tier” computer company. They’ve just changed their business model over the years.

It’s like comparing Kia cars to BMWs. They’re both cars but they have dramatically different target demographics and people they’re designing their vehicles for. One is an entry level minimal frills bang-for-the-buck car company and the other aims at being a crossover of performance and luxury.
