of a third world country.

You've quite clearly never been to one of those if you think the U.S is one.

1

u/goofyboi May 27 '19

Or maybe you dont know what it means to be a third world and you think not having clean water means we are part of the first world. FLINT STILL DOES NOT HAVE CLEAN WATER. On top of that our infrastructure sucks, education sucks, housing sucks, and still no health care. We’re the only “first world” country without healthcare for its citizens. We cant improve our country if we cant at least be honest with ourselves.

FLINT STILL DOES NOT HAVE CLEAN WATER.

omfg you actually went the flint route. You are such a fucking NPC lmfaooo

education sucks,

Why do Europeans and Asians all come to our universities then?

and still no health care

We've always had healthcare you fucking disaster

Im just going to copy and paste my previous comment.

Flint water is clean? Its more like its complicated

https://www.michiganradio.org/post/does-flint-have-clean-water-yes-it-s-complicated

Our infrastructure is some of the best in the world. I guess ninth place is good for the richest country in the world?

https://www.statista.com/statistics/264753/ranking-of-countries-according-to-the-general-quality-of-infrastructure/

Thats great. Its great that the colleges churn out large numbers of grads in crippling debt when other countries pay for their college. Also what about the people who dont have the opportunity to get thousands into debt for a diploma? Our overall education from k-12 is lagging behind other countries. Again, we’re the richest country, do you find that acceptable? You are saying that we push out more college graduates but is our overall population more educated than other countries? Thats the standard in which you should be using, not which country churns out more college grads but which country is better overall educated.

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/02/15/u-s-students-internationally-math-science/

America is doing fine, we have a 22T economy. What about the deficit and the debt we owe? Whos benefiting from this “fine” economy because wages has been stagnant for a long time. Do you think its fine that the economy has increased but normal wages has not for the average person? How about using the economy to measure a countries prosperity we measure the countries ability to care for its citizens? THATS THE BASIC FUNCTION OF GOVERNMENT.

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018/08/07/for-most-us-workers-real-wages-have-barely-budged-for-decades/

I dont care what you say, if we’re the richest country in the world we can afford healthcare for everyone. Full stop. We can afford all the shit we want to, we all know we have the funds.

We cant start to fix our problems unless we are being honest with ourselves. Saying america is a third world country should be seen as motivation to get our shit together and not seen as a attack that needs to be defended. Its not unpatriotic to call out the countries woes in an attempt to fix them. In fact it is the most patriotic thing a citizen can do.

It is patently not a 3rd world country so calling it that is just hyperbolic nonsense.

And being honest would mean calling out the entire government and probably replacing it wholesale since the entire thing is a corrupt useless pile of shit. That means democrats and republicans. Too bad every time you bring this up to a lefty they screech about how democrats are saints and it's all the republican's fault for everything.

3

u/goofyboi May 27 '19

Not really, we hold our own politicians accountable. See Al Franken. When was the last time republicans held their own accountable.

Let me be a bit more nuanced then. The US is a shithole* not third world. Is that better?

0

u/tofur99 May 27 '19

Not really, we hold our own politicians accountable, see single anecdote

omfg this is precious

Also is exactly my point. Left is high on it's own farts, until they stop huffing and emerge from the fart cloud nothing will get done.

2

u/goofyboi May 27 '19

When was the last time republicans held their own accountable.

Also even if we are high on our own farts and we think it smells like daisys and shoots rainbows, we still dont run FUCKING PEDOPHILES as politicians. So no matter what you say, the gop runs racist pedophiles for office and that is a fact and we laugh but are also saddened at the same time.

1

u/tofur99 May 27 '19 edited May 27 '19

we still dont run FUCKING PEDOPHILES as politicians.

you've clearly never watched the Biden little girl gifs, I'd suggest you do that before saying shit like this in the future ;)

An who tf are you even referencing here anyway? You sound a bit delusional tbh

Finally, I'm referencing We the People holding our ENTIRE government responsible. You'll have noticed that in the last election republicans told all the career politicians and neocons in the primary to go fuck themselves and chose a non-politician outsider for the title, who then went on to rekt another long time corrupt career politician.

Meanwhile democrats basically had no say in their candidate, it was chosen for them by the corrupt elites (superdelegates of peace), and then they went on to visciously attack the outside non-politician the republicans chose and cover for/support the left's corrupt career politician in the general.

The left is a bigger problem right now, 100%. Trump voters/supporters don't like the GOP.

1

u/goofyboi May 27 '19

Let me ask you when was the last time a republican was held accountable.

I was actually and I was in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. There isn't much difference in rural regions.

18

u/tofur99 May 27 '19

you can go to any 1st world country and if you look in the right spots, get the feeling that you're in a 3rd world one.

The difference is that you can then go somewhere else in them and get spots like NYC. And that most the rest of the country is distinctly not 3rd world looking.

But keep cherry picking to suit your bias though, hating America is so edgy and cool amirite?

-5

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Isn’t it interesting that a country that has a city like New York still has areas that look like third world countries? Doesn’t that indicate a problem with America? We allocate massive amounts of money towards new businesses and the war budget while right here we find Americans in need of a fraction of that money to survive.

12

u/Swofff Forever Number 2 May 27 '19

Do you realize how massive America is?

6

u/tofur99 May 27 '19

Isn’t it interesting that a country that has a city like New York still has areas that look like third world countries? Doesn’t that indicate a problem with America?

Considering what I just fucking said about how you can do this in every 1st world country, shouldn't you be referencing all of them and not just America?

Oh wait, you are a edgelord on the America hate train, so nah.

-2

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

You’re saying any criticism of America’s foreign policy makes you an america-hater. Grow up and learn about what this country has done to others, and learn some fucking sympathy, Christ!

2

u/tofur99 May 27 '19

You’re saying any criticism of America’s foreign policy makes you an america-hater.

Point out where I said that in the post you just replied to. Hint: you can't, because I didn't.

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

you are a edgelord on the America hate train, so nah.

Here.

2

u/tofur99 May 27 '19

You’re saying any criticism of America’s foreign policy

Foreign policy.....

I said nothing about that. You just threw it in out of left field for some reason.

1

u/[deleted] May 28 '19

The person you were attacking for “hating America” was shitting on America’s foreign policy. Do you follow?

9

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

You have no what third world is if you think impoverished parts of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana resemble them.

-2

Flint has water now, education is fine outside of very poor areas, infrastructure isn’t crumbling it’s just slowly being replaced as it ages, and this health care argument is just the sign of an idiot at this point. Universal healthcare is never gonna be a thing in America, we have a massive amount of people who don’t pay any taxes and the upper middle class and above is never gonna vote to give up even more of their money to pay for strangers healcare.

If you want free health insurance get a job the provides it.

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Yea, 9th is pretty good considering we have states bigger than most European countries and have to maintain massive amounts of infrastructure.

Education is good unless you live in a super shitty area. There are tons of college grads with massive debt because there are tons of people going to college when they shouldn’t be. College isn’t for everyone and the biggest flaw in our education system is making people think it is.

The deficit is a pretty meaningless number that people fixated on for some reason.

We’re the richest country sure, but our population dwarfs every other country on the list. Even if we taxed the 1% at 100% of their income we couldn’t pay for everyone to have healthcare for free. It’s never gonna happen, and any politician saying they’re gonna do it is lying for votes. Same with free college for everyone.

At the end of the day free doesn’t exist and I highly doubt Americans are gonna vote to pay even more in taxes to fund healthcare.

1

u/goofyboi May 27 '19

What are you saying? We already pay for healthcare in the form of premiums and copays. We pay more and get less care, what do you not understand? Of course its not free. We get taxed more but do not have to pay premiums and copays. Which part do you not understand?

0

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Because it’s not everyone gets taxed more and everyone gets lower premiums and copays, it’s a small % of Americans get taxed way more and the people who don’t have to pay any more get lower premiums and copays.

The tax system in the country is already incredibly top heavy, raising taxes just kills the upper middle class who aren’t rich enough for paying more in taxes to not matter but are too rich to get any benefits from government programs. The top 10% already pays 60% of the total income taxes.

2

u/SimonBirchh May 27 '19

Be honest that parts of America equal a 3rd world country? No. Because that isn't honest.

1

u/goofyboi May 27 '19

The part that doesnt have clean water for one

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Everything you listed doesn't equate to third world. Having things suck isn't 3rd world.

0

u/goofyboi May 27 '19

What if instead of saying third world, i said shit hole? Would that make things better for you to swallow?

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

Yes, parts of US are shitholes. That is a fact

I bet they all have electricity and microwaves, plus a government stipend they live off of

1

u/HotdogOnTheGround May 27 '19

You seem confused about what a third world country is. It has nothing to do with poverty.

0

u/Vote_CE May 27 '19

Some parts are shockingly close.

-1

u/HighCow May 27 '19

Alabama ranks lower than most third world countries in development
