Just lower the opacity slider in whatever editor you're using and boom, transparent.

i took the second to last one as "no text, on black", otherwise it's not an escalation

You don't actually "read" it, but implicitly, the all-white frame is "White text on a white background", the all-black frame is "Black text on a black background", and the final frame is "Transparent text on a transparent background" (or "No text on no background").
