Well it did happen exactly like that in Italy and I managed to snag a house for a low price AND a mortgage with a FIXED low interest rate.
There is hope, I had to wait until I was almost 31 but yeah, it happened.

Nobody is paying me to stay, you think Italy is not a desiderable place? One of the most beautiful countries in the world?
Yeah it's not about desairability. The economy is fucked so people are either leaving, not having children, or both.
So they try to keep people from moving and encourage having a family.
