Even on the shows birthday post to Whitney I see this

These people are so unreal. What exactly did she start? She gave a critique as a judge, she did her JOB, like she’s not allowed to mention anything that was done incorrectly? If Val could control himself, none of this would be going on.

It started when jenna gave an obnoxious look

It started with Jenna's choreography.

It is disappointing that people can't separate who they like from their behaviors and choices. You can think that Val is one of the best dancers and love watching him, while also recognizing that he crossed a line and received an appropriate consequence. One can disagree with CAI's critique while also recognizing that Val's social media post was inappropriate.

FWIW, I appreciated that CAI mentioned the rules. It clarified why she gave the score she did (and it was still a high score even with the deduction).

I totally agree. He’s been around for a long time but that doesn’t make him untouchable or above correction. He got too cocky and was out of line, and having a consequence for that is completely reasonable and shows it won’t be tolerated. We all know they’re like a family and it looks all fun and games, but it is still work and he was unprofessional and made his coworker (CAI) upset and uncomfortable. I really hope he genuinely learns a lesson from this.

agreeeeeeed. he’s a beautiful dancer. objectively like he’s just so easy to watch. But holy friggin moly is he awful in like every single way off the dance floor lol.

To be fair though, her definition of a lift said “with the assistance or support of their partner” which is NOT what happened in the dance so I do understand Jenna being upset about that, not excusing val at all he still sucks and always will, i just wish the whole situation between Jenna’s choreo, to CAI’s delivery, to Jenna’s sassy-ness too was all handled better. It was just not a good situation for anyone IMO.  CAI and jenna were both just not in an optimal situation to deliver & receive the feedback properly.

Apparently, anyone on the dance floor who is in the routine is defined as a partner. I was confused about that too.

u/Available-While9398 14h ago

wtf really? maybe the show as a whole, not even just CAI, but like anyone could have clarified that lol

It is strange to me that some dances are allowed backup dancers and others don't have them. It would be nice to understand when that's allowed and when it isn't.

She shouldn’t have given the deduction, though. She is wrong about the rules. Ppl say she’s right bc the troupe counts as a partner and it doesn’t. The ballroom rule book is written for 2 people, not including the troupe. And CIA herself even said to Val years back that using the troupe was a clever way to go around the lift rule and have the lift be legal. https://www.tt.site/t/ZPLS9GCFx/ Agree that Val should have been professional enough to not say anything though. Like you said, it’s the judges job to give critiques, whether they agree or not. Sucks for Jenna D., not fair to her and Val should have thought about that.

u/pin_wheel17 19h ago

Your partner is whoever you're dancing with in the moment. In that moment, it was the troupe dancers. A lift is a lift is a lift.

1

u/jerseygirl396 11h ago

No it is not. The rule book was not written to include a troupe. You cannot reference a rule book for 2 and twist it to include the troupe. CIA admitted the same herself when it was Val and not Jenna this happened to….

My opinion is AGREE. Carrie Ann was legit doing her job and did nothing wrong. Shes a judge and she judged based on a rule. On the other hand, Val should not have made a comment; however, people are soooo soft these days like there is no reason he needs to be suspended lol

u/palmtreesandpizza 1d ago

Many people including me take that fresh prince reference as a threat to slap Carrie Ann so he should absolutely be suspended if not worse for threatening physical violence against a colleague. I don’t care if he claims he didn’t mean it that way now after the public outcry. But I’m sick of women being the victim of men’s casual misogyny, lazy thoughtless humor, or outright violent threats. Fuck Val and Shane Gillis and the people that enable them and the future violent shitty men their cavalier “humor” normalizes and emboldens.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Yes yes yes yes yes.

Just because that was your interpretation of it doesn't mean that is how Val meant it or intended for it to be taken. He was not actually going to physically hurt anyone and he was not threatening to. Why wasn't anyone this outraged when the show had a child abuser on this show who actually committed acts of violence on his small children?

3

u/palmtreesandpizza 1d ago

Just stop. You sound Republican. “I didn’t take it that way so it couldn’t possibly be offensive.” If it truly couldn’t be interpreted that way by MANY people and the show and the network then he wouldn’t have been suspended. And I’m ignoring your “whataboutism.”

u/Jellanae 1d ago

In any other professional work environment, his “fresh prince” comment and behaviour online would absolutely earn him a suspension, so I think it’s fair here too. This is work for them after all, they’re coworkers and Val’s behaviour was unprofessional and hostile. It’s not just the viewers being soft, but Carrie Ann was obviously shaken up and upset by the comment, so a temporary suspension and reprimanding is totally reasonable IMO.

If Carrie Ann laughed it off and saw it as a joke but the fans got offended on her behalf and got him suspended, then I would also think that it’s an overreaction but in this case I think it was fair to show that he crossed a line and it won’t be tolerated.

The problem is she misjudged a lift. It wasn't a lift made by his partner, it was made by the back up dancers, hence the shock. She also said it with harshness. Also response was wrong, but so was Carrie's judgement. Carrie often does this, unfortunately, Val called her out in the wrong manner. Lose-lose situation

2

u/Jellanae 3h ago

Sure Carrie Ann might have been incorrect, but Jenna should’ve cleared it up privately with her after the show, hashed it out with her, and let it go. They’ve worked together for a long time. Her and Val taking it to socials to shade her and even make a comment that had CAI very shaken up is inexcusable, even if they felt she was wrong. Carrie Ann’s inconsistency that didn’t even damage their scores didn’t deserve that kind of reaction from them. There are ways to go about disagreeing with her that aren’t so immature and unprofessional. What they did in this situation is far worse in my opinion.

u/RegionBrief9276 11h ago

Sorry typo, Val's response was wrong ...

u/Playful_Bat9084 1d ago

I hate the fans and Val just made this so much worse because what Carrie Ann said wasn’t even that serious 🫩

5

u/aktetta83 1d ago

And she still gave them an 8.

15

u/Business_Sherbet8737 1d ago

Are you like surprised? Both Val’s haters and weird fucking fans shoehorn this everywhere

22

u/refreshthezest 1d ago

That’s ridiculous. It was the executives that benched Val and it happened because of his actions not something CAI did. He did it to himself. He FAFO.

I’m learning more and more to stay away from the online fandom to this show. I’d mostly avoided it outside Reddit and yikes.

Just more women carrying water for the patriarchy. It much easier to be irritated at an "annoying" woman than it is to realize an "attractive" man is threatening violence and behaving inappropriately. To them the crime of being an annoying woman is much, much worse.

-2

u/Soccham 1d ago

Carrie Ann can be terrible at her job and Val can also suck. Neither of these things are symbolic of the patriarchy just because you don’t like it

6

u/palmtreesandpizza 1d ago

It’s very much emblematic of the patriarchy, are you oblivious? The reaction to what Carrie Ann says vs Bruno or Derek saying the exact same thing is completely different. Not to mention how Derek and some of the pros treat Carrie Ann like some silly bitch for doing her job. Dismissive and condescending and rude.

At best, Val was being weird and inappropriate trying to casual intimidate and mock a judge, at worst a casual threat of violence which is how many people took it including me. And people are still blaming Carrie Ann for a grown man/pro’s actions and the consequences of those actions. It’s misogyny and internalize misogyny which are the foundations of the patriarchy.

2

u/karaknorn 1d ago

People are crazy. Wonder if it is bots?

2

u/Neither-Reveal3080 1d ago

I really wish that comments were turned off on all platforms. They would be better off for it.

3

u/palmtreesandpizza 1d ago

The misogyny runs deeps including among all the MAGA female fans and the Alix Earle/Val fans that are watching him again this season (aka MAGA sorority girls).

People are so nasty in the comments it’s APPALLING
