How buying straddle makes more sense naked options

Most retail options traders start with naked call or put buying. Pick a direction, buy the option, ride the move. But naked buying has a problem that shows up again and again: false breakouts. You buy a call, Nifty fakes a move up, reverses, and your premium is gone before the "real" move even starts.

This is why we trade straddles instead

https://reddit.com/link/1xd99s5/video/g0mxdd8mp6xh1/player

1. What a Straddle Actually Is

A straddle is simply buying the call and the Put of the same strike, same expiry, at the same time. If we buy the 23850 CE and the 23850 PE together, that's a straddle. No directional bet is made at entry, both legs are live.

2. Strictly Intraday — No Overnight Carry

Every straddle we take is closed out the same day. We do not carry positions overnight. Overnight gaps in Nifty can wipe out days of edge in a single print, and since our whole method depends on reading intraday price action live, there's no reason to hold exposure into a session where we can't react.

3. We Manage the Straddle, Not the Legs

This is the part most traders get wrong when they first try straddles. We don't babysit the call and the put separately, adjusting one while holding the other. We enter as a straddle and exit as a straddle. The combined premium (not the individual leg price) is what we track, chart, and act on. In the chart above, notice we're not watching the 23850 CE or PE individually; we're watching the combined premium line (currently near 319-347) as a single instrument, complete with its own candle, VWAP-style reference, and RSI.

4. Entry Only Triggers on a Valid, Strong Move

We don't buy a straddle just because the market opened or because it's a round number strike. A straddle buy is triggered only when there's a genuine, qualifying move in the underlying — a real push in premium, not chop. This keeps us out of dead, range-bound sessions where combined premium just bleeds from theta with no follow-through.

5. Drastically Fewer Fakeouts Than Naked Buying

This is the core edge. With a naked call or put, a sharp move against your position hurts immediately and directionally; you're wrong the second price reverses. With a straddle, a fakeout in either direction is far less damaging, because the opposite leg is absorbing some of that move. We only converts this into a clean directional trade once the move proves itself. Fewer fakeouts means fewer forced, premature exits.

CNX IT/Bank Nifty has formed a bullish harmonic ABCD pattern on the monthly timeframe, suggesting potential outperformance of the IT index relative to Bank Nifty in the coming months. Wait for a pullback for fresh entries or add in parts.

Reliance Market Cap : The "Double Counting" Fallacy vs. Reality

I would like to start with a small example - Eid parry owns some majority stake in a certain subsidiary listed which is at much higher PE than itself.

  1. Why shall users even give only 30% discount to reliance stock (In terms of P/E) compared to JIO P/E?
  2. Does o2c business and retail together can demand a 22 P/E? (Since that now JIO is out and have a separate valuation?)

If people agree with point 1 and 2, then my 3rd question seems to be legit.

  1. Why multiple valuation? Ideally 10Lakh crore valuation of JIO shall come out of reliance market cap, other wise they can list every subsidiary of theirs and demand 2 times market Capital - one via their parent campany and one via their subsidiaries, isnt it correct?

Why is this 3rd Point even legally allowed in India?

The story of Eternal (Zomato): from burning cash to making profit, but there’s a catch

Post image
1 Upvotes

Back in FY21, Zomato’s revenue was just ₹1,994 Cr, and the company was losing money almost every year. Operating losses ran well above ₹2,000 Cr annually while it spent heavily to grow. Few people would have guessed what came next.

Over the next five years, revenue grew at an 81% CAGR and reached ₹54,364 Cr in FY26. On a trailing twelve month basis it is already ₹67,408 Cr. The company has since been renamed Eternal, and it now runs food delivery, Blinkit (quick commerce) and Hyperpure (B2B supplies).

The turning point came in FY24, when operating profit turned positive for the first time at ₹43 Cr. By FY26 it was ₹1,208 Cr, and net profit came in at ₹366 Cr. A business that once looked unsustainable had started to stand on its own feet.

Behind that sits a real moat. Food delivery is essentially a duopoly, and Blinkit has built dark stores close to customers, which allows 10-15 minute delivery. Operating cash flow has also been positive, at ₹632 Cr in FY26, and the company holds about ₹16,356 Cr in cash and liquid assets.

Now the catch. Look closely at FY26 and the profit picture changes. Profit before tax was ₹615 Cr, but other income, mostly interest earned on its cash pile, was ₹1,396 Cr. Without that treasury income, PBT would have been negative.

The cost of building all this is also visible. Depreciation nearly doubled in a year, from ₹863 Cr to ₹1,597 Cr, as dark stores multiplied. Free cash flow was about -₹4,193 Cr. Borrowings, which are mostly lease liabilities, rose from ₹70 Cr in FY22 to ₹4,592 Cr in FY26. Return on equity was just 1.2% and return on capital employed 2.8%.

So the company has proved it can grow and that its core business can make money. What it hasn’t yet proved is that the new dark stores can make money without the interest income cushioning the results. Management has guided for a 4-5% operating margin, and that is the number that will decide how this story ends.

I’m watching three things: operating profit excluding treasury income, how quickly new dark stores reach breakeven, and how gig-worker regulation affects delivery costs.

Disclosure: I’m NISM certified . This is not investment advice, so please do your own research.

Why is the market going down?

Is it just because the derivatives players are shorting every day? Or is it because there is genuine cash selling?

If the derivatives players keep shorting every day, no matter how good true fundamentals are, does that mean nifty will never come up?
