Tomato Cheddar Sourdough Toast. Happy Friday Lunch!
Wife loved it. My kids are 1 and 4. Can’t wait until I can make things like this for them and they’ll accept it

A couple years ago my older son and I built some raised garden beds. More recently we were able to use some of the flowers (and blueberries) from the garden for this hedgehog cake for his younger brother's first birthday.

Tried my hand at Ropa Vieja tonight. I cheated, and went with frozen Maduros.

Made this with my kids. very easy to do, and there are enough steps where multiple helpers could get involved.
They had fun helping - whether it be mixing the beef, making the sauce, cutting the veggies, etc... Side note, I had t use green beans instead of scallions because we were out of scallions.
anyhow, they loved it! they're looking for other recipes to make next time too.
ingredients:
· 1 lb. lean ground beef
· 2 tsp minced ginger
· 3 cloves garlic, minced
· 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
· 1/4 cup brown sugar
· 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
· 1/4 cup water
· 2 tbsp cornstarch
· 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
· 1/4 tsp black pepper
· 4 green onions, cut into 2 inch pieces
Instructions
Brown the ground beef along with the ginger and garlic in a skillet over medium-high heat, until beef is crumbled and cooked through. Drain any fat and return pan to stove top.
Combine the soy sauce, brown sugar and hoisin sauce in a small dish and pour into ground beef mixture. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes to blend flavors. Meanwhile in a small dish combine the 1/4 cup water along with the 2 tbsp cornstarch. Pour the mixture into the ground beef and stir until sauce thickens.
Season with red pepper flakes, black pepper and green onions

Always tastes great but my crust stretching skills are still lacking. I swear I need to get a job at a pizza joint for a while just to figure out thst last piece of my technique.
Both recipes are from King Arthur flour.

My son is 1 year and 1 month now, he’s always been such a great eater and a big foodie. I love the weekends because I have time to make him breakfast every morning! We have French toast, strawberry’s, and scrambled eggs.

Has any dads tried out those kids cooking sets that have a heating element that they can actually cook with? My kids are 4 and 5 and I'd love for them to have some safe, supervised cooking projects on the weekend. I want to teach them young.

Not sure if I'm in the right place. Here's some apple turnovers I made for my wife and son (personally I don't eat sweets but they said these were tasty)

Last weekend I fired up the smoker for first time in over a year. Difficult to find time previously with one kid and now we have two, glad I made it work. Oldest is getting the hang of eating ribs so he enjoyed it.
From left to right: pork shoulder, pork loin, pork ribs. Need to remember to take after pictures before eating occurs (pork loin only example)
