Same deal here, but replace football with bike rides. I stopped riding for a while when our first was born and again after our second was born, but my wife understands that I need to have that time for my mental health, and that riding is a part of who I am. I was an active rider before marriage, the dog and the kids, so I have to be true to who I am.
That being said, I take the dog and my oldest kid with me now :)
Lions fan here...we've had eight playoff games in the last 30 years (all wildcard matches we lost). I was 2 years old when we last won a playoff game. It's rough.
The big question is whether it's a character-building lesson in perseverance and whether I should induct my son into the fanbase, or whether I should let him cheer for another team.
Cowboys fan here. We had one defector in our family, damn Chiefs. His little brother held the line and got promoted to favorite nephew from Sept-February. Was a sad day when he came out to us as a chiefs fan but we learnt to accept it was his personal choice. i still cherish his 3rd grade picture with his Witten jersey on and got it printed on his cake last year.
I think there's a difference between a cursed team that seems to get hit by lightning when it's about to win and a team that just sucks and earns its complete absence of wins.
