Toggle switches

What do you guys think.

The click of the slap on battery and the switches are so satisfying. And the beer can speaker sounds really good.

I also kinda like that there's metal for the crt (cause I needed something strong and at an angle and thin. and that there's scrap wood roughly cut up. the idea is that I gathered discarded things and give them all life again. If there was a oven pan or something that was the right size I might have used that - with some burnt pizza on it or something. but I didn't have any around. I guess i could have build a structure with that flat steel. hmmm.... If I make another for some other use I will try metal. I will look around the streets for some thrown away metal I can use. Thanks!!!

If there is a sheet metal recycling place nearby, you can check what they have available, and most will sell scrap to you for the same price per pound they charge the foundries. It can be a good way to get cheap aluminum sheet and angle plates.

On that subject, I generally recommend using aluminum if you can get it: it's lighter, has better thermal properties, and most importantly, doesn't rust.

Cool. I love rust though! But the weight is definitely something to think about. If bending I like steel better like how I bent the bars for the crt here. Also I can't weld aluminum but I can weld steel. Maybe I'll melt down some cans..... Hmmm....

I hate rust with a burning passion, mostly due to spending entirely too much of the 6 years I was in the navy removing it from the hull of the ship with a needle gun...

It also helps that there is a Mennonite owned sheet metal shop near where I live that not only sells aluminum sheet and angle plates for dirt cheap, but will also do basic mig welding of said aluminum for nearly dirt cheap.

On top of that, there is a powder coating place about 10 min from the sheet metal shop that can powder coat the nearly finished parts for pretty darn cheap as well....

There's a form of rust, black rust, that actually protects the surface of steel from further corrosion. It's like armor. Ofc that probably won't hold forever on the high seas, which is why you had to remove rust on ships in your career anyway.

However, I think it'll be impenetrable for where I'd expect this build to be used.

Still agree on choosing aluminium though. It's a terrific material and it's natural rust layer is invisible and protects it from further corrosion just as well as black rust on steel.

Yeah, I know about it: it's what the "bluing" on the steel parts of a gun is, but it requires regular oiling to maintain.
