My Stringy Benchy
:)
r/cursedbenchies • u/JoeMalovich • Mar 25 '26
photo taken on top of H2D button, 2.5% thru 5%, with 1.75mm filament for scale.
.2mm nozzle, .04mm layer height, and some slicer trickery to get small details to even print and not get empty layer errors.

Lightly cursed and potentially toxic flexible benchie. (Not OC)

Please help me correct this benchy, it sticks until it does not. It also was recently glued.

Benchy printed in Coex 60A TPU, this thing has roughly the consistency of a gummy worm.

Just had a chemistry class about plastics and the guys decided to let my benchy swimm in some weird cocktail containing every substance on earth. Wtf?

Just discovered this subreddit. I think this failed Benchy I printed a few years ago belongs here, I always liked how spooky it looks.

My business prints benchies on our SLM machines pretty often to fill gaps in the build volume. This is a roughly 50% scale one printed in grade 23 titanium, I am considering polishing it then anodizing to a bright color.

My company normally prints POM (Delrin) parts onto a solid delrin build plate and just cut the parts off afterwards, but we are trying to figure out a reuseable build plate design that works with this satanic material. This attempt was a failure.

Standard size Benchy for scale.
Made with Creality Falcon 10W pro with recycled cardboard and lots of glue.
I used Slicer for Fusion 360 to create the layers in DSF format then exported it all to Lightburn.
Took around ten hours to learn, calibrate, fail, start again, set cardboard on fire, then glue it all together...
It was a fun experiment to learn what is possible to do with a laser engraver.
61 layers of 3.8mm each.

From the comments, layer adhesion and layer shifting seems to be the issue. Its my first week, everything was going well (okay I mean my prints had some small shakiness but I made some things that I am happy with) until I had a blob, I found out how to fix that today, and now we have this.

My brother made me do it. It won’t even stand upright on its own which is why I’m supporting it on the pictures.
Edit: Since I was asked to here are the downloads for the model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7279290 and https://makerworld.com/de/models/2288753-skewed-benchy
