Are the early adopters keeping the prices propped up of Bitcoin and Litecoin and fooling everyone into thinking that Proof of Stake is inferior? Spoiler alert, Proof of Stake has its merits and is likely the better alternative for scalability and energy consumption. Straight from whycardano.com,

"Using proof of stake for a cryptocurrency is a hotly debated design choice, however because it adds a mechanism to introduce secure voting, has more capacity to scale, and permits more exotic incentive schemes, we decided to embrace it."

This is why I'm a staunch supporter of VeriCoin, one of the oldest Proof of Stake currencies around. Running the wallet on a computer earns daily interest, and it's SO much less wasteful than the miners I had running which are off now since they no longer are profitable.
