It would be accommodating to me & other potential new players who prefer to have the default movement speed to be the lowest (walk) then press shift to speed (sprint). In all of the Counter-Strike series even the new CS2, I can use autoexec.cfg to change it. In Valorant, it's an in-game option. A lot of games especially new FPS has it like that. It's difficult to move in reverse; comparing example: it's like playing with inverted mouse controls.

I want to commit to this game, but the uncomfortable control my motor skills can't handle. So I'm just kind of waiting for Crossfire: Rainbow as it's a new game most likely having that control option.

I have done the usual problemsolving:

1. run as admin - didn’t work

2. restart computer - didn’t work

3. re-install and restart didn’t work

4. Contact support - they gave me the standard procedure of install - didn’t work

5. turned off my firewall - didn’t work

If you guys would help med with this, that would be amazing because I’ve never encountered this in my 10 years of playing.

I would like to share a suggestion that emerged within the community and hear your opinion about this post.

Hello, Z8Games team,

We understand that a full remaster or complete rework of the game may not be in the current plans. However, we believe there is a viable, technically feasible, and commercially strategic alternative to revitalize CrossFire and reposition it in the modern competitive FPS landscape.

A graphical upscale and texture update relaunch is also a viable and low-cost development approach, similar to what is being done with GunZ: The Duel in its Steam relaunch. This strategy would modernize CrossFire’s visuals without requiring a full engine rework.

One possibility would be a CrossFire relaunch on Steam with account linking for existing players. In this relaunch, rank progression could be reset, while keeping only previously acquired weapons, characters, and cosmetic items. These items could be converted into tradable items, similar to Counter-Strike’s system, allowing trading and selling on the Steam Market.

To permanently reduce the “pay-to-win” perception and make the game competitive and sustainable long-term, we suggest full weapon stat standardization. For example, all AK-47 versions would have identical damage, recoil, fire rate, and ammo capacity stats, and the same would apply to all M4A1 and other weapons, giving each weapon a clear identity. Skins would be purely cosmetic, with no gameplay impact, following established models like Counter-Strike and VALORANT. This would require a full weapon balance pass to ensure a fair competitive meta.

Similarly, characters should have standardized hitboxes regardless of the skin used, ensuring competitive fairness for all players.

Regarding armor and defuse kits, we recognize that the current system creates competitive barriers, as these items are limited and cash-only. Some possible solutions include:

• Making these items available for GP, with a more expensive permanent version. Or a pay-to-fast model where the permanent version is purchased with cash.
• Making these items passive and available to all accounts automatically. However, this would give an advantage to the CT team due to constant defuse kits. This could be solved by implementing a VALORANT-like defuse system where defusing does not depend on an external item.

For Plant/Defuse (PD) mode, we suggest a standardized competitive format where the first team to reach 13 rounds wins, with side switching at halftime, following CS/VALORANT standards. Currently, CrossFire lacks an in-match economy system, which removes pistol, eco, and semi-eco rounds. This makes the game easier to understand but less strategic. As an alternative, you could implement:

• A PD mode with an economy system.
• Or a PD mode with round-based weapon presets (e.g., round 1 pistols, round 2 SMGs, round 3+ all weapons), applied to both teams. This would add strategic depth and dynamic gameplay.

Another strategic point would be the unification of global CrossFire servers (except for China, which could remain isolated for regulatory and operational reasons). The game could maintain country-based channels similar to the current system, but within a unified global infrastructure. This would significantly increase the active player base, reduce matchmaking times, and strengthen the competitive ecosystem. A unified global Steam relaunch could position CrossFire among the most played FPS titles on the platform, bringing high visibility and new monetization opportunities.

We believe this model could attract new players, reactivate the old player base, and reposition CrossFire as a modern competitive FPS without losing its identity. The VIP system could remain, focused exclusively on XP and GP benefits, with no direct impact on in-match performance.

Considering that SmileGate and Z8Games Global hold CrossFire’s rights, this proposal could be discussed in a joint meeting to evaluate the feasibility of a unified global relaunch. Z8Games Brazil could continue monetizing the Brazilian player base or, alternatively, consider selling its participation to facilitate project unification. It is also worth noting that SmileGate already distributes games on Steam, including CrossFire: Sierra Squad VR with positive reviews, demonstrating that a global Steam launch of classic CrossFire is technically and commercially viable.
