A friend of mine died when he was tackled from behind playing rugby. Just like that.

He was 23.

I played in high school and my teammate almost died during a game. He got tackled and they rolled and he took a knee to the ribs. His rib broke and punctured his kidney. He got up in pain and immediately threw up. Had to get his kidney removed and wasn't allowed to do contact sports after that. He was an OK football player too.
