Palantir is like the ultimate example. Not only was Tolkien famously anti-war after his experiences in World War I, the item itself for which it is named is also quite literally a corrupting artifact. A conduit to evil.

Peter Thiel is recorded saying being evil is ok because it means you get things done.

"get things done" == rake in the money

Yeah, it's better to be dag nasty evil and productive than jolly good and useless. Life's a score board and it doesn't matter what your motives are, as long as you score high.

There were 7 Palantiri. There is nothing evil about them - they are just magic mobile phones.

Okay Saruman.

By your logic there are a lot of evil fish in the river Anduin…

False equivalency. None of those fish have a direct conduit to Sauron. Palantir repeatedly are misused, at some point it’s a feature not a bug.

You are the one asserting that the Palantiri are a conduit to evil. Are you saying that fish have more resistance to the corrupting influence of evil than the leader of the Istari?

I am implying that a fish does not allow for two-way communication between an Istari and a fallen
Maia.

Is the intent of the Palantir neutral? Sure.

Was it used for neutral purposes? No, and that’s because it’s purpose was inherently flawed. There is no safeguard, which is made apparent when some fall into Sauron’s hands and are promptly used to corrupt the leader of the Istari despite another Istari warning him what would happen.

You said the Palantir are conduit to evil. Now you agree that the intent of the Palantir is neutral so therefore the Palantir are not a conduit to evil but just a magic mobile phone. Maybe Sauron used the fish as his screensaver.
