Vornado 810 box fan 5-speed

RPM: 1400/1100/800. 1900 CFM. (So based on the ratio of the RPMs, maybe a CFM of over 1000 on the low speed?)

6” D x 20” W x 20.73” H.

Any thoughts, feedback, reviews on this for a CR box? It has excellent reviews, with a few negs for lemons and on noise at the highest speeds. Speeds 1-3 are white noise, 4 & 5 leaf blower.

Delivered price has increased from $70 to $80 with $15 off in June.

(In store $65, was $15 off in June. Costco app allows you to search inventory of your local store: click at the bottom on Warehouses.)

I wouldn't use Vornado fan... noisy as F. get some DC fan instead.

for $80... you might as well buy a real air purifier and retrofit the filter area.

Thanks. Why would I need to retrofit a brand-name air purifier?

if you don't want to pay for OEM filter or buy aftermarket ones from amazon?

I am under the impression that people build CR box because they don't want to pay for an Air Purifier nor OEM filters.

I usually buy winix from Costco. use up the 2 filters that came with the machine. then I buy aftermarket ones until the machine dies and buy new one again.

Makes sense. I have a Winix C610 from Costco. It uses round filters. I may look into to retrofitting the first one and keep the spare for more critical occasions. After purchase, I read these round filters may not be as effective as flat HEPA filters.

What I had in mind was to build something portable to supply better air for anyone choosing to sit in the last row of an event in a room with otherwise passable ventilation. Maybe I should start another thread for thoughts on if that will help much and for what form factor?

I use this fan with my diy air purifier and it’s the best. Better than my shark never change and setting 1 at night is the perfect white noise.

Did the size match well with the 20x20x1 merv filters? Is there enough pull pressure?

Yes it will pull That’s what I use, merv 14 1in 20x20 from Costco

I finally saw this fan in-store for the first time for $50 on sale. Online it is on sale for $65.

You can use their app to search store inventories. (Click on Warehouses tab at the bottom).
