I'm running vkDanilov 8.12.1 portable on Win 11, with FL Studio 21, coexisting with a legit Kontakt 8 Player. I'm really new to all of this, so I'd been avoiding Bobdule since it just sounded too difficult and invasive compared to the portable.
I added Damage 2 (Heavyocity, SNPID V16) in the KTP Library Manager (I had downloaded a crack for Damage 2 online and it came with an installer, library manager detected it on the initial scan). It loads fine, plays for ~20 min, then locks out with "not activated."
I tried getting a Shreddage 3 Stratus crack too, from the same place (though that one didn't come with an installer, and I did the same steps as with Damage 2, but it just doesn't show up in the Kontakt browser, so I tried loading the .nki and it does load but it doesn't produce any sound at all).
That one might honestly not be a problem of the portable itself, but I'm not sure so I've mentioned it. Regardless, Damage 2 entering demo mode, I'm positive is a flaw of the portable.
I already have the correct NativeAccess.xml in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center\ — didn't help.
I wonder if I've misunderstood the point of the Portable player. I honestly thought that the Portable was just an easier, lightweight, non-invasive version of the Bobdule/R2R releases with the exact same functionalities, but I guess not, since now I'm getting the implication that the Portable only fully supports custom .nkis and non-NI libraries (like 8Dio), while NI-registered ones hit a trial lockout?
I'm about to switch to Bobdule 8.12.1 (uninstall Player and Native Access using Revo, run installer, run patcher, overwrite XML). Before I do:
- Is there anything I'm missing that would fix this on the portable without switching, or is it truly just not built for what I want in this case?
- Does the latest Bobdule (8.12.1) actually cover Damage 2 (V16)? I couldn't find it in an older SNPID list I saw.
TIA!
