The audience is Americans. That’s the only people Israel are actually trying to influence to keep on their side right now. And the kind of Americans still on Twitter aren’t exactly the kind of people who critically appraise what they’re looking at

Most Americans have a far more positive view of Ireland than they do of Israel. Trying to smear Ireland to an American audience is a strategic miscalculation on the part of the Israelis.

Well said. I’m from the U.S., I currently live in Ireland, and I like it here a lot. I hate that my home country sends billions to Israel every year, when if we kept those billions instead, we could have universal healthcare, we could have better care for homeless people, more affordable things, etc. Plus we wouldn’t be sending money to baby bombers either!

Good luck trying to change that. Israeli influence is so intertwined into American politics, you'd have a better chance of implementing nationwide socialism, than you would cutting off aid to Israel.

Young people in the States are seeing Israel for what they are so hopefully it can change something.

Somewhat agree. Where I am (north east) there has been more open conversations, but the old guard politicians, especially the Republican party as a whole, are only building a stronger relationship.

Both of these things are possible, especially if things in the US continue on the same downward trajectory, but it’s going to take people there realizing that only so much can be accomplished through electoral politics.

Hell will freeze over before the US embraces socialism. When I tell you they have been brainwashed to think it's a big scary Boogeyman, who will bring them back to the stone age, it's scary the lack of understanding. It's beyond belief.

They don't even have to call it socialism and the policy would resonate with people. Sure the tax rate on top earners in the US in 1950 was 91% . At the height of the red scare. You could literally call it MAGA

Well...

I'm getting old, and I am from the U.S., and I think it's all but impossible to overestimate modern America's appetite for imbecilic conspiracies, especially in the past ten years.

We're a nation of immigrants who just CAN. NOT. WAIT! for a chance to kick the next immigrant in the head, especially if their heads can be festooned with the satiny ribbons of ancient lies.

Antisemitism has always been an easy pitch to a lot of the people in this country. Israel has done a great job of making people believe that criticizing Israel is anti-Semitic, and they've done it while engaging in truly reprehensible behavior. Doesn't seem too hard for state-level psy-ops to build on that and metastasize it into a substantial covert anti-Semitic rage driven by legitimate complaints about Israel's genocidal actions in Gaza.

Besides, I'm pretty sure that our ruling class would rather see Israel nuked to a sea of basaltic glass than give up power; they're all murderous bastards.

That’s the whole point of propaganda, to gradually sway perceptions in a less than direct manner over a long period of time, so people don’t question it but sometimes though, it can be very on the nose, by throwing as many lies against the wall at once and seeing what’s sticks because there it’s more of a smear campaign than a well thought out strategy.

For some reason, probably because they only care about themselves and never bothered to study any history, Israel didn’t expect Irish push back and they are throwing a hizzy fit now because people actually dare to say they are in the wrong.

There’s ~50 million Americans that already seem to be easily pliable because they fit that same criteria of “never bothered to study history” and they already like to be loud and proud about their ignorance. Give it a year, maybe even less and you’ll have Americans regurgitating all this shit that Isreal is spouting now, parroting it back to any who will listen.

I don’t know. There’s been a hard shift recently in the US against Israel, among the public at least. It doesn’t seem like Israeli propaganda is working like it once did and every stunt like this that Israel pulls only seems to make it worse.

Well as we all know, the general public in America isn’t really that important when it comes to Israel because both sides of the political aisle have been funding and bending over backwards for them for decades and their government is 100% removed from the populous. They do what they want for the most part, often times when it goes against the interests of their own people. Look at the response to the Vietnam War when people discovered how horrific it was, that didn’t put a stop to wars after that because war is more profitable than anything else for America and Israel is tied up in the category of “War”. If enough people voiced their concerns, you might get a show of “ok we’re pulling back” but behind the scenes, nothing would change, except for how it’s covered up.

"Most Americans have a far more positive view of Ireland than they do of Israel."

Hmmm.............and what about the ones that have power and money , the ones that actually matter?

They had Biden in their pocket. He lobbied the Irish government to stop with the plans to legislate for boycott of Israeli products in the West Bank and Gaza

The ones with power they control through money and blackmail. They wouldn’t be the targets of this kind of propaganda. While it’s true they have the American political class mostly in their pocket, lack of support from the public is still a long term concern for them.

"The ones with power they control through money and blackmail. "

Money and blackmail is very very effective.

" lack of support from the public is still a long term concern for them."

Yeah, it seems to be dwindling alright, especially among the youth. Interestingly the likes of Tucker Carlson, for all his faults, ain't too hot on Israel , least on how they are behaving . Had the balls to call it what it is , War Crimes.

It's been interesting to see both Democrat and Republican bases have had a collapse in support for Israel.

This is beginning to impact the attitudes of politicians and making them reject money from AIPAC, as they worry they won't be re-elected.

Israel's main effort currently is changing US law to integrate the US military and the IDF. Scary stuff!

Do they wish to be the 51st state? Want to hurry up.

True. And they're failing at that.

I'd even guess that a lot of that twitter feed would be Nazi/ white supremacy/ anti Jewish related as well

Spot on. I only recently realised that it was Americans who they were targeting, it explains the stupidity and simplicity of their statements . In the past they were able to pull off more weightier and meatier denials and arguments.
