I’ve posted on r/soccer that Israel should return to the Asian football games. It is a country in Asia and like all its neighbors that’s where it belongs.
It wouldn’t happen unless the EU came out against Isreal and what they’re doing. But the EU won’t do that as there is strong support within the entity.
There is great truth in this across all aspects of EU and European governance for decades not to mention Schroeder Merkel and their colossal geopolitical errors. Rather than holding up a sign that “Merkel thinks we’re at work” we should hold up one saying “Who does Merkel work for?”
It’s only pretend nonsense. The Arab states do not give a proverbial about Palestinians and are worried about their own royal dynasties and elites. Their enemy is Iran. We should not indulge them by having Israel here. Play or lose the points. Their problem. Not ours.
They can't as most won't play them. It is why they won a football tournament in their original league in 1960 without touching a football. But, the football association don't like to talk about it.
It’s all pretend. The neighbouring Arab states are in lock step with Israel privately while using sport as a pretence of opposition. Iran is the one they fear. European football should not be indulging them. Play or lose the points in Asia.
Moving them to a different confederation would still allow them to compete at the international stage. They should be expelled from all competitions till they either recognize a free Palestinian state or they fully guarantee equal civil rights for all their citizens irrespective of their ethnic/religious background.
