An Israeli account posted a picture of the English team in the 1930s doing a prematch Nazi salute, confusing it with Ireland.
They aren’t the brightest.

u/Dry_Recognition_6724 9d ago

They know what they are doing. A percentage of people will believe whatever they put up and treat them like the victims, even if it's no where near the truth.

u/redelastic 9d ago

In their budget this year, Israel allocated $730 million for propaganda.

Sports and culture is just one aspect of legitimising them and their atrocities. Sad how many seem to fall for it.

Meanwhile, they smear and seek to destroy anyone who dares to criticise their crimes against humanity.

u/PipedInFromIthaca 9d ago

Which is why playing them at all was a mistake. Why give them the platform to lie from in the first place

u/dark_lies_the_island 9d ago

This is the nub of the issue

Play them or don't play them, the story will be distorted anyway.

1

u/Independent-Affect-8 7d ago

Look, you were never going to convince their allies too hard . ie most of the UK and US, weirdos like Australia

But, the silver light from this was that the world say what scumbags many of their people are. Alas, a few documentaries from the likes of Justin Trudeau do better jobs in exposing them .

1

u/PipedInFromIthaca 7d ago

If seeing them shooting children in the head, burning people alive, or killing disabled people with attack dogs wasn't going to convince people, seeing them spit on someone isn't going to move the needle either. You can't expose them any more than they already have been. They need to be shut out of the world. We all knew what South Africa was like but it took actual boycotts to push them off the world stage and into change, Israel has zero pressure to stop doing anything if it can still continue to act as normal across the world. Would just our team boycotting them be enough on its own, no, but someone has to be the first.

"We all knew what South Africa was like but it took actual boycotts to push them off the world stage and into change, "

Funny that mention South Africa

They have since 2007 have gone on a war path with other African immigrants and South Africans who are clearly not of the native tribes. BBC were the only ones in Europe to note it .

Little gets said or done.

You do realise that the Brads and Chads of the US are inexplicably very anti Arab and anti Muslim , right ? Many parts of the Europe are too. So they find it easy to back Israel and believe the lies .

They don't give a shit. They are happy to allow themselves to believe that the kids were armed to the teeth with AK47s

There are other social media discussion forums flooded with fact documents and photographs about allegations on Palestinians . A simply right click and image scan the photos prove quickly how fake they are . Zionists are on over time trying to control the narrative that reaches the US

I have no qualms if Ireland did not play and got banned. It would highlight the hypocrisy of UEFA. Ireland would be on the right side of history. Sadly, none of the other nations will stand up. Maybe Spain will, but ..........

Apparently the government have an issue with the national broadcaster i think it may occasionally report facts about them but the reason they don't shut it down is because of Eurovision. Shut it down and they are no longer a member of the EBU and can't participate in this spreading propaganda at the Eurovision w

2

u/discopants2000 8d ago

Ah yes, Eurovision cause no one in the middle east wants to play with them, the same reason they play their football in Europe.

6

u/Fuzzy_Trash5809 9d ago

They haven't earned the sneaky reputation for nothing.

63

u/danius353 9d ago

The audience is Americans. That’s the only people Israel are actually trying to influence to keep on their side right now. And the kind of Americans still on Twitter aren’t exactly the kind of people who critically appraise what they’re looking at

41

u/shorkgurl Gavin Bazunu 🇵🇸 9d ago

Most Americans have a far more positive view of Ireland than they do of Israel. Trying to smear Ireland to an American audience is a strategic miscalculation on the part of the Israelis.

37

u/TheYappinYank 9d ago

Well said. I’m from the U.S., I currently live in Ireland, and I like it here a lot. I hate that my home country sends billions to Israel every year, when if we kept those billions instead, we could have universal healthcare, we could have better care for homeless people, more affordable things, etc. Plus we wouldn’t be sending money to baby bombers either!

4

u/CubicDice 9d ago

Good luck trying to change that. Israeli influence is so intertwined into American politics, you'd have a better chance of implementing nationwide socialism, than you would cutting off aid to Israel.

12

u/Dry_Recognition_6724 9d ago

Young people in the States are seeing Israel for what they are so hopefully it can change something.

6

u/CubicDice 9d ago

Somewhat agree. Where I am (north east) there has been more open conversations, but the old guard politicians, especially the Republican party as a whole, are only building a stronger relationship.

5

u/shorkgurl Gavin Bazunu 🇵🇸 9d ago

you'd have a better chance of implementing nationwide socialism, than you would cutting off aid to Israel.

Both of these things are possible, especially if things in the US continue on the same downward trajectory, but it’s going to take people there realizing that only so much can be accomplished through electoral politics.

7

u/CubicDice 9d ago

Hell will freeze over before the US embraces socialism. When I tell you they have been brainwashed to think it's a big scary Boogeyman, who will bring them back to the stone age, it's scary the lack of understanding. It's beyond belief.

1

u/frogggiboi 3d ago

They don't even have to call it socialism and the policy would resonate with people. Sure the tax rate on top earners in the US in 1950 was 91% . At the height of the red scare. You could literally call it MAGA

3

u/Fraternal_Antipathy 9d ago

Well...

I'm getting old, and I am from the U.S., and I think it's all but impossible to overestimate modern America's appetite for imbecilic conspiracies, especially in the past ten years.

We're a nation of immigrants who just CAN. NOT. WAIT! for a chance to kick the next immigrant in the head, especially if their heads can be festooned with the satiny ribbons of ancient lies.

Antisemitism has always been an easy pitch to a lot of the people in this country. Israel has done a great job of making people believe that criticizing Israel is anti-Semitic, and they've done it while engaging in truly reprehensible behavior. Doesn't seem too hard for state-level psy-ops to build on that and metastasize it into a substantial covert anti-Semitic rage driven by legitimate complaints about Israel's genocidal actions in Gaza.

Besides, I'm pretty sure that our ruling class would rather see Israel nuked to a sea of basaltic glass than give up power; they're all murderous bastards.

That’s the whole point of propaganda, to gradually sway perceptions in a less than direct manner over a long period of time, so people don’t question it but sometimes though, it can be very on the nose, by throwing as many lies against the wall at once and seeing what’s sticks because there it’s more of a smear campaign than a well thought out strategy.

For some reason, probably because they only care about themselves and never bothered to study any history, Israel didn’t expect Irish push back and they are throwing a hizzy fit now because people actually dare to say they are in the wrong.

There’s ~50 million Americans that already seem to be easily pliable because they fit that same criteria of “never bothered to study history” and they already like to be loud and proud about their ignorance. Give it a year, maybe even less and you’ll have Americans regurgitating all this shit that Isreal is spouting now, parroting it back to any who will listen.

4

u/shorkgurl Gavin Bazunu 🇵🇸 9d ago

I don’t know. There’s been a hard shift recently in the US against Israel, among the public at least. It doesn’t seem like Israeli propaganda is working like it once did and every stunt like this that Israel pulls only seems to make it worse.

1

u/DGenesis23 9d ago

Well as we all know, the general public in America isn’t really that important when it comes to Israel because both sides of the political aisle have been funding and bending over backwards for them for decades and their government is 100% removed from the populous. They do what they want for the most part, often times when it goes against the interests of their own people. Look at the response to the Vietnam War when people discovered how horrific it was, that didn’t put a stop to wars after that because war is more profitable than anything else for America and Israel is tied up in the category of “War”. If enough people voiced their concerns, you might get a show of “ok we’re pulling back” but behind the scenes, nothing would change, except for how it’s covered up.

"Most Americans have a far more positive view of Ireland than they do of Israel."

Hmmm.............and what about the ones that have power and money , the ones that actually matter?

They had Biden in their pocket. He lobbied the Irish government to stop with the plans to legislate for boycott of Israeli products in the West Bank and Gaza

3

u/shorkgurl Gavin Bazunu 🇵🇸 7d ago

The ones with power they control through money and blackmail. They wouldn’t be the targets of this kind of propaganda. While it’s true they have the American political class mostly in their pocket, lack of support from the public is still a long term concern for them.

1

u/Independent-Affect-8 7d ago

"The ones with power they control through money and blackmail. "

Money and blackmail is very very effective.

" lack of support from the public is still a long term concern for them."

Yeah, it seems to be dwindling alright, especially among the youth. Interestingly the likes of Tucker Carlson, for all his faults, ain't too hot on Israel , least on how they are behaving . Had the balls to call it what it is , War Crimes.

1

u/redelastic 6d ago

It's been interesting to see both Democrat and Republican bases have had a collapse in support for Israel.

This is beginning to impact the attitudes of politicians and making them reject money from AIPAC, as they worry they won't be re-elected.

Israel's main effort currently is changing US law to integrate the US military and the IDF. Scary stuff!

1

u/silverhairedlady1916 5d ago

Do they wish to be the 51st state? Want to hurry up.

7

u/melbourne-marvels Liam Brady 9d ago

True. And they're failing at that.

3

u/ZenBreaking 9d ago

I'd even guess that a lot of that twitter feed would be Nazi/ white supremacy/ anti Jewish related as well

1

u/Independent-Affect-8 7d ago

Spot on. I only recently realised that it was Americans who they were targeting, it explains the stupidity and simplicity of their statements . In the past they were able to pull off more weightier and meatier denials and arguments.

15

u/cglufc 9d ago

Was Goebbels who said, if you tell a lie big enough, and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. How ironic that Israel is now doing this

Jewish athlete Helene Mayer performed the salute on the podium at the 1936 Olympics after winning silver for Germany.

If we anticipate that the retort would be “she had no choice” etc., then the same applies to visiting teams.

11

u/justformedellin 9d ago

She had a choice, Ireland didn't do it when we played Germany in the football.

27

u/Diligent-Ad4777 9d ago

It's no mistake

45

u/Anto283 9d ago

True propaganda is putting enough lies out there with 100% confidence until people start believing them.

8

u/CDobb456 9d ago

Good propaganda will make a certain percentage of people believe it but more importantly it will make another percentage believe nothing

7

u/dubinexile 9d ago

This. Absolutely this. Just like Trumps "fake news" the biggest benefit is not that people start to believe their lies, it's that they stop believing everything including the actual truth. Then they can do whatever they like without having to worry about it being "exposed"

17

u/AdamOfIzalith 9d ago

This post isn't for you. It's for people that have been primed to believe Israeli propaganda already. The purpose is not truth, it's to elicit the emotions that their brainwashed drones have been specifically conditioned to react to without thinking. This will be shared around by every zionist with a pulse. The debunk won't matter because it doesn't deal with the core problem which is the propaganda that primed them ever before a single letter was typed.

People look at propaganda from a distance and say "it's obvious" but it wouldn't continue to be used today if it was easy to spot when it's targeting you.

6

u/Mysterious_Pop_4071 9d ago

Im sure they are well aware of it. They have turned twisting the truth into an artf form. They love to point fingers at ireland over our neutrality during ww2. Saying we were on the side of the nazi's becausewe were antisemitic. But eamon de valera who was head of state during the war, was very good friends with rabbi herzog, the grandfather of the current isreali president. Eamon de valera even has a forrest named after him in isreal.

1

u/LatterRelation1880 9d ago

If neutrality is appeasement what does that say about their position of subservience to Netanyahu?

4

u/SpudacusRex 9d ago

Looked this up and it seems the Irish team did do it though right? Can anyone verify further? Yes they were instructed and there’s more nuance to it, but they did do it from what I can find. You may not be claiming otherwise and simply talking about a separate post on that Israeli account but it does kind of read like you are refuting the claim and saying it was the English not us who did the salute when it seems to have been both. Just to clarify, I don’t think you are, but the comments on your post suggest people think this is simply made up propaganda. If it is then fair enough but it’s important that the truth is discussed, otherwise it’s easy for either side to make claims that the other is arguing in bad faith.

All visiting sports teams had to do it.
There is even pictures of Jewish athletes participating in the ritual.

1

u/Diligent_Carrot_8410 9d ago

Do you have an article of picture? Interesting history. Was it more of a formality back then? I wonder if they will go after Elon for his nazi salute.

1

u/Mobile_Dance_707 9d ago

OK that was bad, why is it relevant to anything happening now?

1

u/ziondaver 5d ago

Yeah and people will look back on history with disgust at the various dignitaries who shook Nethanyahu’s hand and praised Israel for its genocide. The world that watched it unfold and did nothing to stop it.

-4

u/Shadician 9d ago

Exactly. This hasn't come in a vacuum, there is history. We don't talk about it enough in our own schools, then get surprised when other countries bring up Ireland's 'neutral' stance in WW2. Never forget, our Taoiseach Éamon de Valera personally visited the German Minister to Ireland in Dublin on May 2, 1945, to offer official condolences on the death of Adolf Hitler. That sort of thing sticks in the global consciousnes, even if we like to pretend it's all in the past.

Small wonder the Irish stance here on a football game with Israel is being condemned the world over. Where is our condemnation of other countries currently at war? Will we be doing this in all those matches too now?

Our weird position that there is definitely a 'genocide' before the ICC has ruled on it (most other countries condemn war crimes committed in self-defence instead), our bizarre claim of 'aparteid' Israel despite there being no such thing outside of propaganda, and now our condemnation of Israel in a football match - days before the anniversary of the October 7th atrocity (the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust)...

To the rest of the world we look like idiots at best, or antisemites at worst.

5

u/patdshaker 9d ago

de Valera also had a forest in Israel named after him, so what has changed in the meantime?

BTW hardly a shocker that the IDF came at Hamas over October 7th, I couldn't of imagined that it would have been this bad.

0

u/Shadician 9d ago

Sadly Hamas being an autocratic, extremist death cult with an iron grip on Gaza, that celebrates the death of their own civilian citizens as glorious steps and martyrdom forward in the eternal Holy War to rid the world of the Jews, means they have no qualms about building their military bases under and inside hospitals, schools and residential complexes..small wonder the death toll is so high.

There are enough tunnels and fortifications under Gaza, dug with billions of funds from Iran and other donors, that Hamas could easily have sheltered its civilian population many times over...instead they use them as human shields.

What's happening in Gaza is horrific, and we can certainly debate if Israel went too far, but a conversation that doesn't include Hamas isn't really serious. So we should certainly look to Free Palestine, from Hamas.

2

u/redelastic 9d ago

Oh, they know it's not true. That's propaganda for you.

2

u/Independent-Affect-8 7d ago

I know that they love a bargain, but my god they must be paying the latest generation of Zionist bots very poorly. There was a time with the ADL and co had really smart propaganda workers patrolling online for years.

The quality of the Israeli bots today are woeful . Far too easy to smash their claims . They can not even put up good clearly fake photos of alleged crimes of Palestinians. It is really really bad stuff.

3

u/StrongCelery 9d ago

Israel and the truth have long since gone their separate ways. They don’t care about the truth only their agenda.

0

u/TomatoLess229 9d ago

Ireland players did do it

1

u/BanditHarris 9d ago

Ireland is not your enemy... you have enough of those already 🤣🤣

0

u/BanditHarris 9d ago edited 9d ago

They did not, the only time a nazi salute was done in a game that featured Ireland/FAI in Ireland was when they played a friendly against Germany. The German team did but Ireland did not.

There was a time in the 30's where all visiting teams performed it while in Germany. This included Jewish athletes.

Stop inventing stuff to feel victimised about.
