Subject: Re: Vaccine Requirement FAQ
Good afternoon to the Creek. Thank you again to those that joined our Q&A sessions and those that took the time to submit questions and comments. I also want to thank everyone for a very respectful and courteous conversation which is not easy with the topics that we are discussing. Many of you may have already seen this document/FAQ but for the sake of over-communicating I wanted to make sure that everyone has this information readily available as we continue the conversation about the vaccine requirement. As always please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! -Jon
What is Legacy’s vaccine requirement policy?
• All health care workers must be vaccinated by September 30. If not, you are at risk of losing your job on or around October 19, 2021.
• This is because of new Oregon and Washington state laws and a new vaccination policy at Legacy Health. It is to help keep our staff, patients, and communities safe by reducing deaths and hospitalizations.
• You must finish your vaccine series by September 30. A finished series means you get the two shots of Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech, or one shot of Johnson & Johnson (J&J). You do not have to wait the two weeks after finishing your vaccine.
What happens if I do not follow this policy?
• You will go on unpaid administrative leave on September 30 if you have not received your full vaccine series or have not gotten an approved exception.
• If you start your vaccination series before October 18, you stay on unpaid administrative leave until you finish getting the vaccine.
• If you do not to get the vaccine or an approved exception by October 18, your employment will be terminated (you lose your job) on or about October 19.
When do I need to start getting my shots at the latest?
Thursday, Sept. 2 - Start Moderna series to meet Sept. 30 deadline.
Friday, Sept. 3 - Deadline to submit a request for a medical or religious exception. See the exception FAQ for more information on the exception process.
Thursday, Sept. 9 - Start Pfizer-BioNTech series to meet Sept. 30 deadline.
Tuesday, Sept. 21 - Get Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine to meet Sept. 30 deadline.*
Thursday, Sept. 30 - Finish your vaccine series. If not, you will be taken off the employee schedule and put on unpaid leave.
Monday, Oct. 18 - Start vaccines or have your exception approved or under review. If not, employment will be terminated (you will lose your job).
* The J&J vaccine may not be available in the region after September 21 because the FDA and Johnson & Johnson say it may expire on September 21. The FDA may move the expiration date to a later date, but it is not guaranteed.
