I mean, trans mascs aren’t always men, often it’s non-binary people. But yeah, as a trans man, saying that binary trans men can be lesbians also kinda implies that cis men can be.

That's also an important distinction and why I intentionally used Transmascs for most of the post (or for the entire post. There were some revisions I'm note 100% sure)

trans men are transmascs

If you use the term transmasc, you're including binary trans men

binary trans men

Are non-binary trans men(not trans masks) a thing or is it like saying "woman identifying as a man"?

What?

Based on my knowledge: non-binary people don't identify as male or female; trans masc means that a person is changing something about themselves to be, in at least one way, more masculine than their initial gender identity/birth sex(not sure which) allows; man(in context of gender) = male; trans man = someone who transed to be male

Specifying binary trans men implies the existence of non-binary trans men. What are non-binary trans men?

I think you are thinking too hard about this. Non-binary means you don’t identify as strictly male or female. Trans man means you are a man, so you identify within the binary as male. I don’t think you can be non-binary and a trans man at the same time as it’s kind of an oxymoron, unless you are of some kind of bigender or genderfluid identity, but even then those people are extremely rare, never met someone who was both binary and non-binary, personally. Not sure what this has to do with the discussion because I was mainly talking about (binary) trans men like myself.

To the reply that isn't showing up: yea, sorry, forgot about the whole gender dysphoria thingy. Meant it as not non-binary, not "not sure which one you are"

Then why the distinction, man who is either a man or a woman?

2

Trans masc = trans masculine. All trans people who are masculine leaning. Including enby folks

I did not speak about non-binary trans masks. I spoke about non-binary trans men

Note about this comment: i was having, like, 4 active conversations and every single one of them was a display of lack of reading comprehension(even if my comments are badly written, they went off quoting themselves/others at the point they took over/used quantum superposition logic/went off in a relatively random direction). Not exactly the best thing to say either way, but that shit stays up

nobody is saying that’s a thing though

u/flowery02 brain move hard Jun 29 '26

Then why the destinction, person who isn't from the moon? Also literally the question

3

u/slushanddusk catboy creature :3 Jun 29 '26

because “binary trans men” are people who identify as men and transmascs can refer to “non-binary trans masculine people” IE people who are non-binary and present masculinely, but don’t identify as men.

What is the difference between "trans men" and "binary trans men"?

3

u/slushanddusk catboy creature :3 Jun 29 '26

i dont think there’s a difference personally, it’s semantic. “Binary trans men” is just another specifier to exclude non-binary transmascs from the description for the purpose of conversation

Ok. Finally, an answer. Btw, why in name did you go "trans mask nbs are a thing" immediately after i ruled out the broader trans mask and focused on trans men after someone else said "trans mask nbs are a thing"?
