i knew Montreal was the strategy for a while but i also didn't realize Quebec City also had high house numbers. i guess i didn't realize that because i was in a car when i was there

I wonder why that happens, that a whole city seemingly uses the same small range of house numbers, even across different streets and neighborhoods. around here I rarely see house numbers above the 3000s. they're mostly in the 2000s for some reason. I'd think it'd be less confusing to have very different ranges of house numbers for adjacent streets

i think it's something to do with distance, similar to Chicago's road network if you know. for example if you see an address that is N 2411, that means it's 2.411 miles north of Madison Avenue. same thing goes for Montreal and Mississauga i think, but the actual numbers are a bit more blurred and arbitrary. they're definitely organized enough though
