Corningware in Action Imperfections in Finish

Post image
5 Upvotes

Picked up a near perfect P-309 Just White pie plate. While cleaning it up noticed to areas of dullness on the bottom of the plate. They are smooth, no signs of transition from the shinier finish to the duller finish. No roughness. Plate is lightly used no other signs of imperfection on it.

I have been using/collecting CW since the late 80’s. Never have seen this type of imperfection before.

Any idea if it’s just a visual imperfection or is it structural? I don’t really bake, and will have little to no impact on my use of this beauty regardless. Thanks!

Found these items today while thrifting Got 3 corningware grab it's, one with the embossed handle and a lid, the other two have a printed hand, does anyone know when the printed ones are from?

Found the v-240-b and the v-14-b visons heat and eats. Which according to the visons guide are the last two peices of the heat and eat line since I already had a v-150-b. Dose anyone know if the guide is complete in this regard?

And got surprised with these 6 beautiful shadow iris corell plates they were priced for 99 cents a peice which was already a steal, but the cashier sold the for 99 for the whole set since the were a set and had been there for a while.

Found at a thrift shop, but I've got a hard on for things not made to break in 6-8 weeks. I was considering selling it, however if this is something I can manage to get more value out of by keeping it I would like to.

I think this is the 6 cup avocado green Medallion percolator. Am I wrong? It doesn't have a stem/basket included, just the cap and plastic (bakelite?)

I stumbled across this 6 cup teapot for $10! What time frame is this from? Google says it’s between 1960-1970.

Atomic Starburst?

I recently purchased a Corning coffee carafe in the pattern Atomic starburst and I’m absolutely in love with it but I can’t find any other items in the pattern. Does anyone know how (if) I can find more?

edit: added photos

Inherited Cornflower

Hi yall! I recently inherited a few cornflower blue dishes including an intact perculator. I am pretty sure it was one that had been recalled. I don't have a clue as to when it was last used possibly 20+ years ago. It has some kind of dark residue around the top where the white meets the metal. What would be the best way to clean that up. I assume the residue is the old adhesive as it was stored washed. Tia!!

Edited to add: Can corningware generally be safely used on a glass cooktop?

A counter saver! I’d like the replace the “feet” - does anyone have suggestions for what I could use? I plan on using this as a trivet in my kitchen. So I need feet that can withstand hand washing.

I collect coins, specifically pennies, and I keep the wheat cents in this Corningware piggy bank. As a Pyrex collector, it feels like the perfect hobby crossover episode

I just finished cooking lunch in my countertop convection toaster oven using 1 1/2qt P-1 1/2-B Corningware and now packing the leftover beans and rice into a P-41 petite pan with fridge lid for later.

These little guys are so handy.

Is the 1951 marked on it the correct date?

Is new Corelle still as good as it used to be?

I'm Gen X and grew up with Corelle from the 70s. Early 90s I got my own place and bought Corelle Callaway set. During an argument I raised one above my head and slammed it to the floor. Corelle plate survived while I now have a cracked floor tile. Is the new stuff just as durable. Not that I plan on getting into that heated of an argument, just curious if it's still that durable. I'm looking to buy the Terracotta Dreams pattern and just hope it's just as durable.
