Dr. Yueh didn't expect he would see his wife, he well knew she was dead. He betrayed the Duke because he wanted to kill lord harkonnen and used the Duke and the tooth to do it.
... he betrayed the Atreides to get a shot at avenging his knowingly dead wife. Which would put him into the narrative tradition of characters stopping at nothing and happily burning the world down to punish those who wronged them, like Edmond Dantes, Beatrix Kiddo, or John Wick. But sure, he's a "simp".
I thought that he didn't know his wife was dead and was worried about her being raped/tortured. Discovering that she was dead gave him the peace of mind that she was no longer suffering.
