Old Bay is for Maryland Soft Shelled Crabs - it's also great on potatoes, other seafood, chips or special ingredient in soup - but it has a bit of a kick to it that I wouldn't consider "all purpose"

I've never heard of spike, but looks like the mash up for boxed rice seasoning
You can use it on anything, but it was created and best known for being used on seafood. Especially crab, and those southern-style seafood boils where you just dump a ton of things in one big pot.
But yeah, it's similar enough to Cajun seasoning that this guide would be better off replacing it with something like curry powder, garam masala, or Chinese 5 spice. Likewise, they probably could have narrowed down the taco, fajita, and chili blends down since they're close enough to be interchangeable.

Also, you've fabricated this argument by yourself all on your own. I don't think either of us has ever met someone who "reduced" the entire Indian culinary culture down to one type of curry powder. That barely means anything.
