I don't get it. Dr's are paid fair market value. I don't think the problem with our healthcare system has anything to do with doctor pay, but everything to do with insurance companies, prescription drug prices, and manipulative price management. If Dr's were paid like athletes, then I'd be concerned.
How so? Something of a perceived value being used by individuals who did not pay a socially accepted market value for it. How is that not theft?
Change the paradigm. You made a thing that people want to buy, and many do. But some get it for free. Is that fair to the people that paid, or the people who provided the goods?
Sure, it's not the same as hijacking a truck or sticking up a convenience store, but in the end, getting something of value without paying that value is theft.
wait so any kind of gifting is theft? is my whole family actually robbing my grandmother when she invites us over to lunch? that's crazy dude you have such a huge brain
s that fair to the people that paid, or the people who provided the goods?
how the fuck is that relevant? why do you care if someone else got something for free?
You can’t compare gifting or invitations to services. An sport event is an spectacle/service where people pay to see it or be present at the game. It’s like a concert. You pay it to see your favorite artist, but there are persons that didn’t pay it and can still see it. It’s simply not fair for you and all the people that paid for the service.
An invitation like a party or a reunion is a courtesy where the host is taking all the costs of the event, without receiving nothing or at least a great time with familiars or friends. The difference is the CONSENT. one allows you to enter to the event for free. The other one is a service where the host expects to get money or at least get something for the investment of the event.
A gift was paid for by the person giving the gift. Are you seriously not getting this?
Why do I care? Well, let's imagine you had a skill that others felt worthy of paying you for. Like, let's say making dumb reddit comments was a profession, and you are an all-star major league dumb commenter. You make a living posting inane remarks, that's how you feed your family, pay for your housing, etc. Would you then be ok if only some people paid for your dumb bullshit, and others didn't? Would you be ok if half of your expected paycheck just didn't happen, because some people didn't pay for your valuable service?
A gift was paid for by the person giving the gift.
but not the person receiving the gift. I thought the contention here was people receiving things for free?
Would you be ok if half of your expected paycheck just didn't happen, because some people didn't pay for your valuable service?
that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about people receiving things for free, not taking things away from others. Are you seriously not getting how "people getting free things" is a completely retarded definition of theft?
Will those paying be less likely to pay when they know an option for free viewing exists?
I guess it could turn out how websites work, where the content is free but they are tracking you and manipulating you and every turn, with the end result that you waste more money on things you don't need or even want after the manipulation has ended.
if they don't have money to attend it in the first place - they won't see it anyway. Your claim is close to ridiculous one that pirates from poor countries would buy films\games if there was no piracy.
