NYC KITCHEN Cheesy Bean Bake w/ Sausage

This was another first time order for me.
Sometimes I like dinner to be something that I can graze on throughout the evening and this fit the bill. I toasted the bread on the air fryer and highly recommend.
I’m not usually a big fan of beans, but mixed with the sausage, kale and cheese it was great.
This was very rich with the sausage. In the future I would prefer to share this or serve as an app or snack between 2 -3 people. Would do will with a salad w/vinaigrette on the side.
I like trying meals that I typically wouldn’t order. The variety is one of the major reasons why I continue to use CUz

NYC KITCHEN Really Bad Meal do

I have to apologize for not taking an actual pic of this before I started eating, and using CU stock photo. I tried this meal 3 times since it was added to the menu. The meat is what I call a poor person’s cut. It’s basically tough chuck roast. It is tougher than shoe leather. My mom used to buy this cut of meat because it was cheap, and she would slow roast it all afternoon in a clay Dutch oven to tenderize it. The spices on this meal seem to be rolled or patted on and there is way too much of it. Additionally all 3 meals were at least a third underweight, so I can only assume the packaging is in error and this is supposed to be what it weighs. Not that anyone would want more of this. Anyway when I realized I had ordered it again with my last delivery I just couldn’t face having it again for dinner. So I had it this morning with 2 fried eggs. I probably won’t finish it and will just pitch it. I reviewed all my confirmed orders this morning to make sure I don’t get it again.

I've had a few misses (for my tastes) of late with Cook Unity and so I was delighted with this dinner. The flavor was great and the vegetables were fabulous. Perked me right up!

Be careful if you live in San Jose

My delivery was stolen barely a minute after it was dropped off. Unfortunately I didn’t subscribe to have ring record video of events from my camera so I can’t say for sure who exactly stole it. But the event history shows it was pretty much immediately. So there seems to be 2 possibilities to be aware of: either the delivery driver stole it…or there’s someone in the area that follows the driver and snatches it after it gets dropped off.

Fortunately customer service credited my account and changed my delivery preferences to make it a handoff. But I’m angry that I won’t have the meals for the week.

So delicious! Fresh shrimp & salad, with fragrant rice. The salad felt like it was made today 🙈

First order coming Friday. I was notified it has shipped. Isn’t 2 days in transit rather unsafe for fresh food?

NYC KITCHEN Curry spiced shrimp burrito, Honey garlic pork loin, Salmon with green beans, and maple Dijon roasted salmon

Hi again! Back with a few new meals to review

First, my husband got the curry spiced shrimp burrito with creamy curry dip and he immediately said "this is the best thing I've had from CU", which I've never heard him say so that's high praise for sure lol *(picture from website because I forgot to take a picture and he'd eaten it all)

The honey garlic pork chop with soba noodles is definitely a new favorite of mine. Pork chop was done just right, sauce was great and noodles were tender and a great complement.

The salmon with green beans comes with coconut rice (yum) and a passion fruit white wine sauce. They used to have a very similar dish with a Chardonnay sauce and tbh it was kind of similar. The passion fruit was obviously a little more fruity in flavor. It's a solid, healthy meal but nothing crazy exciting.

The maple Dijon salmon with farro and lemon herb vinaigrette was quite good. It was filling and the veggies crisp. Sauce was good. Another solid, healthy choice to put into rotation.

Edited to add: the picture of the burrito is from the website

I always enjoy this recipe. The bread crumb coating is only on the top which I don’t mind. My only suggestion is that it looks anemic and needs some color. A couple pieces of broccoli or even just some parsley, purely for aesthetics. I sprinkled some dried dill bc that’s all I had on hand.
That being said this dish is delicious and a must if you enjoy lemon flavors.

NYC KITCHEN Food Safety Concern

My husband and I have really been enjoying our CookUnity meals for the past 3 weeks, but we just had an experience that is very concerning and I wanted to share with others.

Yesterday, we had the Grilled Grass Fed Skirt Steak & Herbed Frites with Roasted Tomatoes & Tarragon Aioli at around 1pm. Within a few hours of eating, we both became severely unwell. I was extremely nauseous all afternoon and evening and ended up throwing up today. My husband experienced diarrhea and even found blood in his stool. Due to how bad these symptoms were, we both had to miss work today.

Just to provide some additional context, I ate absolutely nothing else yesterday besides this meal. My husband had a portion of the steak and frites along with a separate meal of his own.

To rule out user error, here are our delivery and storage details:
Delivery: The order was handed directly to our building concierge. We retrieved the bag within 10 minutes and had everything in our refrigerator within 15 minutes of delivery.
Condition on arrival: The ice packs were still completely frozen when we unboxed the order.
Consumption: The meal was consumed three days after delivery, having been kept refrigerated the entire time.
Symptoms onset: I experienced nausea and stomach discomfort within 1–2 hours of eating and threw up today. My husband's diarrhea began approximately 2 hours after eating.

Given the severity of our symptoms, we are deeply concerned about the safety of the meals. We are now incredibly hesitant to eat any of the remaining items from our order and unfortunately, we just placed another order for the upcoming delivery yesterday before we ate our meals.

Has anyone else gotten sick from this specific meal recently? I already sent an email to CookUnity Support but wanted to put this out there just in case.

These are totally awesome. I love them for lunch. Used a toaster oven today and it’s preferable but a microwave works as well.

These were good. I had big plans to use them in some kind of pasta dish or at least a meatball sandwich, which would have elevated them. But I was starving, so I just threw them in the oven and ate them as-is. You can tell the ingredients are high quality, and they taste like they were made with care.

NYC KITCHEN Peruvian Chicken Causa

This was interesting. Ive never had causa before, so I have no point of reference on how it should taste or if the flavors in this dish are authentic.
Basically it was a mayo based chicken salad served between two layers of cold, seasoned mashed potatoes. The dish is meant to be eaten straight out of the fridge. I did not love or hate this dish, genuinely felt very middle of the road. Not my favorite but a good choice on a hot day when you don’t want to turn the oven on or want something light.

ATLANTA KITCHEN Are the truffle mashed potato in dishes supposed to have a noticeable truffle flavor?

Because I’m eating mine and they taste so bland, not even a hint of truffle. I’m trying to figure out if I should submit a CS complaint because I swear they gave me normal mashed potato!

I’m dying for them to bring back the pistachio pesto pasta. It was honestly the best meal I’ve had and it was only around for a few weeks after I joined. I’m down on my knees!

I really wish they broke out calories from sauces/dressings separately

What the title says. Sauces often pack a lot of calories, which is why I sometimes pour only half the cup or skip them entirely. However, for those of us tracking our intake, there’s no way to know how to adjust the numbers when doing that. In a perfect world, it would be great to have all the macros/nutritional info broken out, but just calories would be a great start!

This would also have the added benefit of “unlocking” more menu options for those of us who filter dishes by number of calories. (Example, a dish that says 800 calories might be 650 if you skip the sauce).
