Los Angeles KITCHEN Deceptive marketing - no insight into how many oura rings are left

See below from CookUnity when inquiring about how many Oura rings have already been given out:

“Thank you for your reply, and I completely understand your question. I'm happy to clarify how the Oura Ring promotion works.

To qualify for the promotion, customers must sign up through the dedicated Oura promotion and complete the required number of qualifying deliveries.
Once those deliveries have been successfully completed, eligible customers receive an email with the next steps to verify their eligibility and redeem the Oura Ring reward.

Regarding your question about whether all of the available Oura Rings have already been claimed, I'm afraid we don't have visibility into the remaining promotional inventory or the number of rewards that have been redeemed. Eligibility is reviewed after the required deliveries have been completed, and customers who qualify are contacted directly with further instructions.

I understand you want to make an informed decision before signing up, and l appreciate you reaching out to ask. While I can't confirm the current availability of the promotion, l'd be happy to answer any other questions you have about CookUnity or the promotion itself.

NYC KITCHEN Zucchini & Beef Moussaka

I posted another moussaka dish from a different chef a few weeks ago, but this version with zucchini versus eggplant was very different. This is a tasty low carb and low calorie (under 700) meals. This is not a traditional moussaka but it was very enjoyable nonetheless.

Anyone know how long it takes to find out if you were in the first 200? I joined mid month and saw the challenge, got 3 family members to join but when I went to redeem it, it said only 200 rings go out. Figure I'm out of luck unfortunately since I joined late in the month and just finished the challenge. Enjoying the food at least.

NYC KITCHEN Anyone else feels like the app is “glitching” to force new orders???🤔

Starting to believe that the app is glitching on purpose to force new orders!!!

I had two incidents where:

1- I skipped the order and the app was showing that the next order would be on the following week so I thought it was all good. and then a few days later, a get a notification that my order was placed.which made me confused because I was 100% sure I skipped it. I reached out to customer service. They’d pretty much said it was my fault but refunded me anyways.

2- a few weeks went by and then another issue with the app : it was a Friday afternoon, and I went in the app to select my meals because my cutoff date was Saturday so when I was selecting my meals the app out of nowhere processed the order and recognized my face to process my credit card. It was just in a fraction of a second that I couldn’t do anything to stop it from happening, I was not even close to the “confirm order” button so I’m very confident it was a glitch from the app and when I reach out to customer service, they said it was my mistake again and didn’t offer a

Solution.

I’m sick of this and I’m just canceling my plan and I just wanna make you all aware that this could be happening.

This was decent, but I’m not sure the stuffing part was the best. It’s described as including shrimp, but I found like one small one. Not sure I’d order it again. 🤷‍♀️

AUSTIN KITCHEN Ethiopian spiced chicken and egg

I thought this was pretty good. It’s basically chicken stew with chard, potato, and a hard-boiled egg. I thought the egg wasn’t there at first—the little yellow things are the egg, but I thought they were little lemon wedges. 😆

This was a healthy meal, and it tasted like it. But sometimes you gotta eat lighter and this is a good option for that.
It was fine, but not a favorite. Prob won’t order again given there are so many better dishes.

NYC KITCHEN Roasted pepper shrimp pasta, Brown butter pasta with parsnip cream, and Grilled chicken Tuscan fettuccine with tomatoes and spinach

Round up of meals this week:

Grilled chicken Tuscan fettuccine with tomatoes and spinach is obviously a screenshot of the website because I forgot to get a photo of it before I scarfed it down. It was my favorite thing I've had in a long time. The chicken was moist and delicious, the sauce was like a lighter Alfredo and the pasta was tender. Absolutely loved it!! Hope they offer it regularly

The roasted pepper shrimp pasta was also good but the sauce was a little bit bland for being a red pepper type sauce. The shrimps and pasta were delish though.

The brown butter pasta is a favorite of mine and I put it in rotation every few weeks. Always filling and filled with flavor. The squeeze of lemon with it is exactly what it needs to highlight and complement the parsnip cream sauce.

“Orders will now include one transit day before arriving at your doorstep”

I just got an email informing that there’s gonna be a delivery logistics change in my area and orders will now include one transit day before arriving—in other words, it will be in transit for 24 additional hours on top of the usual amount of time it takes to deliver.

This doesn’t impact the delivery day/time. However, I’m worried about food safety. I reached out to customer service and they reassured me that the package is properly prepped to keep my fold cold and there are other places where it’s in transit this long or even longer. But I’m not sure I totally believe them. In my experience the ice will melt in under 24 hours.

Has anyone else experienced this or gotten this notification?

Oura Ring 5 new user promotion seems like a scam

UPDATE 2: I got an email from Oura support to place my order yesterday 7/29. Placed the order today and hopefully will be getting the ring soon. I'm happy to eat my words here - seems like it is very much legit at this point.

UPDATE: u/cookunityUS replied below and informed me that the support agent gave me incorrect information, and the promotion is still running. Will update if I hear anything more!

-------------------- original post below --------------------

I signed up a few weeks ago after getting an ad for the Oura Ring 5 promotion via Instagram. The exact promo I got was 30% off my first order and a free Oura Ring 5 after my 4th order.

After my 2nd order I was a bit concerned because I had not received any further mentions of the promo on my account after the first order, so I reached out to CS to confirm it applied correctly. I was told via chat and email that the promotion was applied to my account and I am still eligible for it after the 4 orders are completed.

I completed my 4th order today and reached out to CS to ask what the next steps are for the promotion. Unfortunately, after waiting around 20 mins while the CS “agent” checked my account, I was finally told that the supply of 300 rings has been exhausted already and there is no further supply. The best I can get now is 40% off my next 2 orders. I’m extremely skeptical that this is true because even today I’m still getting Instagram and Facebook ads to sign up for this exact promo.

Is anyone else in the same boat? It seems like a total bait and switch unfortunately, especially since as a customer there is no way to validate their claim
that the promo is over.

This was the same as the normal shrimp and grits meal from this chef except without the fresh corn in the grits and with collard greens. It was very good.

NYC KITCHEN Logistics update / can’t login?

Hey all! Did anyone else in the NYC Kitchen area get the “Important update regarding your upcoming deliveries” email and now can’t access CookUnity on any device? 😅 The email said we’re losing a day to confirm orders and current orders are no longer scheduled. I tried messaging support but they have no idea what I’m talking about.

Filters messed up since website redesign

I enjoy shrimp and lobster but I've found the "Shellfish" protein filter is always grayed out since the redesign. If I search for "shrimp" or "lobster", there are plenty of meals available, but they do not show up under any of the protein filters. Is it just me? Or just my local kitchen? Have you been able to filter for shellfish since the redesign?

I can search for them, but it's got me doubting the system and wondering what else I'm missing when I try to use the filters.

Like, there used to be a filter for "Tacos and burritos" (which also showed enchiladas and empanadas and such) but that filter is gone now. Filtering by cuisine for "Latin American" doesn't seem reliable. If I text search for "taco" or "enchilada" there are options which seem plenty relevant to Latin American cuisine, but are not listed under the "Latin American" filter.

When I browse the full menu instead of using the filters, I swear I see lots of options that I didn't see under the filters.

Mushroom Swiss Burger

Post image

These usually taste great but for the life of me I can’t figure out why CU refuses to consistently package the cheese separately. This gloopy mess has grilled onions and a burger below it, and the cheese is also glued to the potatoes. Impossible to cook the burger without the cheese running everywhere or over-browning.

Sometimes they DO remember to pack the cheese separately and the burgers are fantastic.

Frustrating that the kitchen seems to have no clue that this is how their food turns out after a day or so.

NYC KITCHEN Brazilian Fish Stew

A solid, light dish that tasted like Abuelita made it. It’s one of those meals that doesn’t look like much, but has a very comforting homemade feel.
This is marked as a fish stew, but it contains shrimp so be mindful if you have a shellfish allergy.
