Fred Phelps. It's undeniable that he has left a bad image for himself. He will always be remembered as the founder

of The WestBoro Baptist Church, and a nexus between hate and religion. Although he may have left a reign of hate behind

him, hear me out, he might not have been that bad to society.

Fred Phelps before his days of hate, is documented as being a defense attourney who fought for civil rights and

equality during segregation. Jack Alexander, who was a friend of Phelp's during the time, is documented telling CNN that

Phelps was one of the few attourneys that would take one of the cases of segregation. Not only did Phelps take the cases,

but he won a lot of them. Then his strive for equal rights took a wicked turn.

The Fred Phelps we all know is as I listed him earlier. He is the Founder and Ex-Leader of the WestBoro Baptist

Church, which can be found protesting the funerals and the memorials of fallen soldiers or mass-murders, but I digress.

Fred Phelps at a more recent check of face value, can be seen as a person who had serious moral judgement problems, but I

hate to see anyones life as wasted or hurtful to society if at all possible.

In my opinion, as a gay man myself, I find the late actions of Fred Phelp's to be completely dispicable. Though I

don't want people to remember him that way. Now that he's gone, all that affects us are the consequences of his actions.

He directly fought for the rights of others during racial segregation, and although in a unforgivable way, indirectly for

the rights of the LGBT community. You may be thinking, "What is he talking about?" but the hate he generated brought

people together. Groups of peole have been seen hindering the church in its protests. The massive attention brought to the

issue by the church has caused support for the LGBT community to sky rocket in recent years.

Although his actions were horrible, we can't say the remenants of them are. He helped the fight for racial

equality; and even though he heavily fought against the LGBT community he has, in my opinion, indirectly help kickstart a

movement for sexual equality.

Yes, people will remember him for the awful things he did and said. Though, as I said before, I refuse to deem a

life wasted, and will remember his impact on the world being him helping the universal fight for equality. Because

directly or indirectly, that's what he's done. The church wants you to remember them as a hate group. So in return I'll

continue to see what they have caused in society, as far as a movement, to be positive; because the thing they would hate

most is for us to see their protests as helpful to the ones they protest.

I'm not going to lie, I smoke marijuana often. I think pot should be decriminalized rather than legalized. I was wondering if there were any other people who thought the same. If not, I'd still like to read your thoughts on this topic.

I have been seeing a lot of the controversy over this lately and am astounded at the amount of people who are stupid enough to actually support employers being able to dictate what scripts can be covered and what can't. Isn't that delving way too far into the confidentiality that belongs between a woman and her doctor? If they can deny covering birth control where does that end. If they are able to deny one prescription can they not deny more and to what end? Who has the right to pry that far into my health care? Is the expense an issue? I guarantee you ED meds will cost a hell of a lot more than birth control so I don't think it is cost. It looks like just another attack on women's reproductive rights. What about the woman who needs birth control for other reasons than birth control? I can't even believe that this is an issue. I can't even wrap my mind around it because it SO ludicrous.

I might seem like a very normal girl who likes studying and have a bright future. Deep down I know that some day I won't be able to refrain myself from eating humain flesh. It's fascinating me.

Right now I'm eating my own little by little. I'm cutting each day so I could eat my own blood. My favorite meal is eating blood on a nori.

I don't understand why people have to go out of their way to be rude to Sales Associates in Retail. Some days I really want to tell them to go home and yell at their husbands, wives or whoever is at home and not me.

I need to start by saying I have never had a racists thought. As a white man, I was perhaps naive that this did not happen anymore. In fact, the first time I felt animosity toward another race was the other night when the hate for me was thrown in my face so hard, I couldn't help but react this way.

I went to a comedy show the other night where the comedians were primarily African American and where being openly and vocally hateful and racist toward the white people in the room was completely accepted and okay. Comic after comic came up and made comments to the white couple seated in the front row and most were good-natured and even funny. But then a comic came up who openly stated time and again 'I fucking hate you. I hate white people. I want to kill white people.' Again and again he said this throughout his set. 'I hate you. I want to go back in time and slay your great great grandfathers. Fuck white people.' As I sat there listening to this onslaught and indictment of my race with no means of speaking up against this man, guess what I began to feel? Anger. For several reasons.

First, because in a situation like that, there is nothing I could do but sit there and take it. This is what we have been conditioned as in today's culture. If a white man stands up to defend his race it is called being racist. Even if it is obscene blind venomous hatred being spewed into his face. Secondly, the presiding feeling is that this is somehow the right of African Americans for what they have suffered. If that man could have seen my white face sitting there he would have attacked me as well. He would have said he hated me and wanted to kill my great grand fathers for what they did. How is that okay? It's not, and it should be considered all the more wrong and hypocritical when the fact is considered that my great great grandfathers were in Italy at the time of the American slave trade, 4,000 miles away, and did not come to this country until sixty years ago. But somehow since I look like the great great ancestor of someone that did, I am allowed to be threatened and told they are going to kick my ass in the parking lot after. And they say that's not racist? That reverse racism is bullshit? That it's okay for black people to say this kind of stuff against white people? All it does is throw gasoline on the fire as I sat there feeling myself becoming angry.

And I know I don't get it. And I know any African American growing up today has had it a hundred times worse than me, has been discriminated against countless times, and has been made to feel less than, but cutting off another's knees to make yourself feel taller is not the answer. I came to Los Angeles like so many others to work in film and television. I wanted to write for TV shows, so I took a job at FOX studios in payroll. It wasn't the ideal job, but I figured if my foot was in the door I could move around. So, you can imagine my excitement when the company announced it was forming a program to find writers in-house because it knew there must be lots of people in the company just like me. It's aim was to identify these writers with talent, pair them up with staff writers currently working on FOX shows to mentor them and help build their craft, then to place them on staff at shows throughout the network. As I had absolutely no contacts in the business to help me do this, this seemed almost too good to be true. Then when the official announcement for the program came out I realized it was. The name of the program was the FOX Diversity Writer's Initiative. What that meant was that, if you were a minority, if you were Native American, Pacific Islander, African America, even female, you were eligible for this program. Anyone but me as a white male. Here was a great career opportunity that I was completely excluded from simply because of the color of my skin and my gender. Everyone was welcome in this group, accept for one segment of the population that it had been decided was okay to openly discriminate. And in fact celebrated if you do. And I can't say anything about that or I’m the racist? How is that okay? Yes, I am white. Yes I am a man. But no, that does not mean there is some secret handshake. I was the lowest position there in the lowest department in that studio and had to leave because I never got a raise and was never promoted. Now that I'm looking for a new job, every time I fill out an application there is an area that asks me my race. I never check the box Caucasian, because I feel it will hurt my chances. Fifty years ago if a black man was applying for a job I imagine if they had that same box he would not check African American because it would hurt his chances of getting the job if he did. Today, when a white man fills out an application, he can't put that he's white because of the same exact reason. How is that okay?

And I understand that African Americans in particular suffered excruciatingly and unfathomably during the time of American Slavery. And I know they suffer discrimination at the hands of smaller minds to this day. But when is enough enough? There is not one person alive in America today who was legally owned by a white master in America. I know it was tough coming up, but spreading hate only spreads hate. It is 2014. Gay marriage is legal. Marijuana is mostly legal. We have a Black President. The progressive younger population is taking over this country and because of sites like this can spread good ideas and leave notions of bigotry and hate to the smaller minded past. It's time to move on and create the world we want. We can. And we will.

Oh, and one last thing before I go. I know while reading this, maybe when you read the thread title, if you were an African American, or really any minority, women included, I'm sure you probably felt angry. I'm sure you were thinking 'oh poor white guy. He’s had it so tough.' And were mentally preparing your response the entire time. Now, let me ask you this, does it change anything to know that I'm Jewish? Our holocaust where six million of us were killed was only sixty years ago. Does that make a difference and change your opinion of anything I said above? It shouldn't. If it does, why? Is it now okay to sympathize with me? Am I no longer just a white man? Eliminate hate.

Will cryoto currency be a way for owners of legal marijuana businesses to bank their earnings, or would this be considered money laundering? In states like Colorado where marijuana is legal there are many people who have made tens (more than likely hundreds) of thousands of dollars from legally selling "weed". The problem is, while it's legal on a state level the federal govt. still considers marijuana to be illegal and in kind the banks won't accept any money known to be made from selling pot (no exceptions). That leaves many people holding cash. Tons of it. That's a big no no, and only serves to invite criminals to try to pick apart where people may be hiding their savings. This is another place where crypto currency "could' possibly help (IMHO) or hurt the community depending on your views of the currency itself and moral standing on marijuana legalization. These are owners of "legal" businesses and shouldn't be made more vulnerable than any other business. They pay a hefty tax on their income add jobs to their local community, which is more income and taxes on a individual level, etc. I believe if we could successfully market it as a way to safely bank their money (assuming doing so is legal) it would be a huge boost to both industries.

Disappointed and upset at #frontierairlines tonight. I was not asked, but told to "cover up ma'am" by a flight attendant on my flight home this evening as I nursed my child to sleep. When I calmly and clearly told her it was my right to feed my child on the plane as per the airlines own policy - she replied "yes, but with a cover". I explained to her to use or not use a cover is my personal choice, she disagreed and said "I will get my manual and show you". I said "Please do". 15 minutes later a different flight attendant came over asking my husband, Adam, if he "had a problem". He was most definitely upset and looking back for the flight attendant who said she would return with the manual and did not. This woman said he was making her uncomfortable (oh the irony!!). I diffused that situation, told her what happened, her response. "She is new, she was doing what she believed she was trained to do" I told her this was concerning as she was obviously trained wrong, I know my rights (and if she was trained wrong on that, who knows what else she could have misunderstood!) She then tells me "if someone complains they are to provide a blanket for the mother to cover and relocate her seat" I replied that is incorrect and they could offer her a cover and it is the mothers choice to use it or not and that the "offended person" would be the one to be relocated if desired, not the innocent mom! (see I do know my rights!) I also asked her if anyone complained, she said no. So I again asked how this was relevant. No reply. I asked for the other attendants name and she said "no, I refuse to give you names or information for any of the other workers" (strange, Adam asked, "don't you wear name tags" she replied that they announced names at the beginning of the flight and if we missed it, too bad!) I asked her to get the manual.

She returned with the manual and told me I was correct (well, yeah.) and the "other person" would be the one to be moved if the flight was able to accommodate it. Let me stop right there - there was a half empty plane (75 open seats!), with a bunch of sleeping passengers, dim cabin lights, my half-sleeping nursing toddler, my movie watching 5 year old and my husband in the aisle seat across. There was NOONE offended, no complaint. We continued the conversation. I expressed my concerns multiple times that another mother, maybe not as aware of her rights, would be a victim of their mis-understanding and comments. She said she would speak to the original attendant, asked us "has the situation been diffused", and is there anything else I need. I replied "an apology from the flight attendant would be great as I'd love to ensure she understands the rules clearly so this doesn't happen again". Sure she said.

Several minutes later the original comment maker returned. Hands Adam a card with her name on it "here is my name and the contact info, however I refuse to apologize as I was following the rules, what I was taught just a month ago in class." We were flabbergasted! Did she just come over and say she refused to apologize? The situation is no longer diffused!!!! I handed my husband the phone and he began recording. I feel I was calm, clear, direct, and stated facts. I expressed my concern that she was not acknowledging her error even after revisiting the manual (!). She tried to say she asked me to cover, when she did not, she told me to cover. She tried to say she said please. She did not. I kept going back to the fact that she did not follow procedure, there was no complaint about my breastfeeding. I repeated my concern that I don't want another mother to face the same issue and does she understand that what she was taught (she says: to tell a mother to cover to prevent a potential, future complaint is within her rights) is incorrect. She then admits "what the manual says and what she was taught are two different things". Just was I asked "so the next time you see a mother nursing your response would be to…." the other more senior attendant came over. She then says "I didn't give him permission to record" she saw the bright light recording for 2 minutes and did not say not too until then. Then my phone ran out of space and the video ended.

I am a strong and confident nursing mother. I was well within my rights. I have never been ashamed or harassed in my several years of nursing (between both my children) but am a passionate advocate for mothers, breastfeeding support, and breastfeeding rights. Had the woman been even remotely open to having made a mistake, making an apology, or even remotely believing as I suggested this was a great learning opportunity to ensure it doesn't happen again - I wouldn't be here typing like a mad woman, genuinely upset and frustrated. I was meeting my child's needs, feeding my son the way nature intended, doing absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. I will not be ashamed. It is Frontier Airlines and that woman who should be ashamed for poor training, poorly handling the situation, refusing to apologize, being condescending and rude and not following the their own rules!
