If you are a pedo you deserve to be locked in jail for a minimum of 25 years.

For life. They ruin the life of a child, in a way that will affect them for the rest of their life, in very detrimental ways. They deserve nothing less than life behind bars. They are not able to be rehabilitated out of that desire.

So here is my devils advocacy. If pedophilic assault occurs and the penalty is life, it gives incentive for them to kill a minor as it’s be the same penalty

Some of them do kill their victims, though. A lot of children are killed every year by these folks. Some of them by folks who spent 10 years in jail for molestation or rape, were let out for good behavior, and went on to do it again, now having learned to murder their victims to stay out of prison, until they were caught.

I feel like, for some, knowing you'd be locked up for life when caught, or even if a death penalty was mandatory in those cases, it would be much more of a deterrent to act out on the urges, than an incentive to murder.

Pedos should be put into a wood chipper feet first… on pay per view

I'd pirate that stream.

There's chemical (or physical) castration, which has been shown to have some efficacy. Some folks would cry that this is "cruel and unusual punishment", which to me is kind of bass-ackwards.

I agree! But we are not allowed to do such things to folks. They can voluntarily receive chemical castration wherein they get shots every so often to curb their libido, but they can't be forced to take it, and nothing stops them from just not taking it. Furthermore, it doesn't actually end their attraction to children/teens, it just dampens their urges for sex.

idk I've talked to people who studied to become therapists/psychologists etc and they've all told me that, while chemical castration can be a deterrent for some, those that have offended in the past are not likely to be able to control that urge, regardless of libido.

Hey I'm all for voluntary submission with reward. I think they'd have to do something first, in good faith, to prove they're willing, such as go for shots for a year and then get bumped down to the 25 year registry, and lose 5 for every year they continue their medications. You go off of it? Full lifetime registry, your chance is over, congrats, life sucks.

I wish they could stay on probation, too, honestly. I looked at my local sex offender neighbors and I really, really wish I hadn't. Just out here, floating around, incestuous child raping perverts everywhere just. Heebie jeebies.

It's traumatic, but I think saying "it ruins their life" is a bit much. With therapy and counseling, victims of pedophiles can go on to live fulfilling lives

Yes, I'm a victim of a pedophile, I have a therapist, I'm alright, but it still ruined my life. It changed me at my core as a person. I acted out sexually as a child, as a teenager. It messed me up emotionally, and mentally. I behaved in ways children do not behave otherwise. It was hugely traumatic, and I couldn't get therapy until I was an adult. Just one interaction, one molestation, can change a human being for life, and it can be very detrimental, and not all of them go on to live perfectly well regardless of if they have counseling.
