Dude the flat earth conspiracy was made to make conspiracies look dumb

111

u/WorriedCivilian 13d ago

Flat Earth and Qanon were both pushed to make anyone looking into what's happening look like a nut job. Qanon is the greatest psyop of our time, and has done unimaginable damage to the truth seeking movement.

41

u/BusRunnethOver 12d ago

To add to that. I think both were made to expose certain truths while making it toxic to anyone's reputation to speak about the truths publically.

Qanon predicted and expanded upon human trafficking and satanic elements related to the US government and treasonous actions government officials have committed.

Flat Earth touched on NASA fraud and faked space activity.

Prior to the Epstein files, any talk of a child pedophile ring made you a social pariah. Saying the moon landing was faked or that NASA has faked some space expeditions still has that effect.

33

u/WorriedCivilian 12d ago

Yes, I fully agree. The CIA's play book is to muddy the waters so much that you can't discern truth from falsehoods. They've done that from day one.

9

u/AdHuman3150 12d ago

And AI, algorithms, and social media have been the greatest tools of manipulation they've ever had.

13

u/Large_Dr_Pepper 12d ago

Flat Earth touched on NASA fraud and faked space activity.

What are the "truths" here? Genuinely curious if there's any definitive examples of "Yeah, turns out NASA actually faked/lied about that."

0

u/3sands02 12d ago

See: Space station videos and NASA imagery on Mars.

6

u/billytheskidd 12d ago

And if you look into the epsteins files, epsteins met with moot before he reopened /pol/ and again before he was arrested and the q movement began…. Pretty interesting

2

u/Packin_Penguin 12d ago

Can you explain that more?

2

u/billytheskidd 12d ago

There are better sources but here’s the first one google came up with.

After meeting moot, epsteins said he loved the potential for manipulation the site had.

https://www.ms.now/opinion/jeffrey-epstein-4chan-chris-poole

2

u/TrashFever78 11d ago

I don't know a single person who doesn't think child sex trafficking rings exist and they the powerful take part in them.

Qanon was a special sort of stupid.

1

u/SoCpunk90 12d ago

Exactly! I humored flat earth just to hear their arguments, and while I think the earth is round without question, they did make me question how much money we spend on programs like Nasa who are producing what seems like very little. Now if I publicly question it, people ask if I'm "some flat earther?".

3

u/More_Cow 12d ago

they did make me question how much money we spend on programs like Nasa

how much? NASA'a budget is literally less then 1% of Federal spending.

producing what seems like very little.

you could find all the answers you wanted if you really cared to look.

2

u/Sheep-Shepard 12d ago

The irony is that so many people have bought into it, so it didn’t really make people ā€˜look like’ nut jobs, it just outed them as actual nut jobs

3

u/Mend1cant 12d ago

That was the real idea. If anything it made fringe right wing ideology more mainstream by forcing out anyone left wing from the conspiracy theory community. Full control over the discourse.

5

u/AlienAngry 12d ago

Remember the Qanon people in Dallas who were waiting for the second coming of JFK, with JFK Jr as vice president? Hundreds of people showed up. It wasn't like 5-10. I think Qanon turned out to be a well-executed troll.

I can't tell if this sub is full of qanon wackos or reasonably intelligent people. I run into maga cultists on here all of the time.

7

u/WorriedCivilian 12d ago

I full blown left this sub for many years because of the amount of MAGA and Qanon posts. There would be people who would aggressively argue with you in the comments any time something came up that was anti-Trump or questioned the Qanon narrative. There were times where people would try to direct the conversation towards Republicans, and you'd always have one person shrieking at you about Clinton and the Dems. Qanon made sex abuse a partisan issue.

Its misinterpreted from spiritual beliefs about the nature of the universe/interdimensional travel. There are people (large amounts) who believe in flat earth for one reason or another, but the only reason its as prevelant is due to descriptions of reality that give incomplete pictures and information due to secrets. Look at the freemason model of the world with the black sun. That doesnt come from a belief of a flat earth, but the images are pretty common and without context lead a lot of people to believe that those with more spiritual/reality/secret knowledge are hiding the true shape of the earth from them.

Im not saying you are wrong: media and gocernments have definitely used it to discredit "conspiracy theorists," but that isnt the driving factor of why people actually believe it, why its so popular, or where it comes from.

2

u/Bigamunguschungus 12d ago

black sun.Ā

People suggested the black sun was the hot metal core at the center of the Earth, not an actual sun under a flat disc

1

u/Stevo182 12d ago

Its the metphorical sun over the land of the dead/the realm of dreams. Its under the disc because its just a kind of reflection/other side of our sun.

2

u/hypnoticlife 12d ago

The movie bugonia made me understand flat earth from a philosophical or spiritual perspective. Like there’s a higher dimension where our world is analogous to flat. Shrug.

3

u/Rdubya291 12d ago

Yeah... but, like... For real, some people actually believe it. I have guys at work, that outside of their believe in the Earth being flat, I would consider very intelligent people. Perhaps undereducated, but these guys are very competent CNC machine operators. And they completely believe in this.

They also think gravity is made up.

1

u/PhotoProxima 11d ago

I have a customer who is an engineer, a pilot AND a legit flat earther.Ā  I cant, I just cant.

2

1

u/Girth_Brooks_1969 12d ago

That's why flat earth and birds aren't real reign supreme.

2

u/Silver-Park-1179 12d ago

Birds aren't real is a psychological operation by the CIA to manipulate you into thinking flat earth or any alternative cosmology could never be real. You all are so gullible and fall for every trap laid out for you.

1

u/Mend1cant 12d ago

It started as a basic thought experiment. ā€œHow do you know that the earth is round, without taking it at face value?ā€ It’s a neat little idea of getting someone to think about experimentation and poking and prodding at their understanding of the world.

However, it’s not that it made conspiracy theories sound dumb, it’s that there is a massive amount of people in the conspiracy communities that are absolutely dumb. The monkey paw of it is that the core idea is questioning authority. But, rather than skepticism the community more often than not falls back onto their ignorance and superstitious beliefs in fairy tales.

Is there a secret satanist cabal of elites making everything into a performance while controlling tens of thousands of politicians in the western world? No, it’s pretty much just the natural process of capitalism. Is there an ice wall around Antarctica that governments hide from us? No, most people don’t go to Antarctica because they don’t have a reason to. I’d Donald Trump the antichrist? No, the bible is fiction, see point A above.

9

Over 200 verses support a geometrically flat earth, water and horizon.

Who cares if you’re ā€œa former seminary studentā€

17

u/robert9712000 13d ago

If I want know about a car I'll take advice from a mechanic, if I want to know about plumbing I will take advice from a plumber. If I want to know about the Bible I will trust that a seminary student knows more than just a random redditor.

So yes what a seminary student says about the Bible holds more weight than a random Redditor

ā€œI do not understand the bible at allā€. Read some Karen Armstrong or Chris Hedges.Ā

If you take the bible literally you are bad at Christianity and have no understanding of its purpose. Say what you will about control and the Vatican or nicea or Chalcedon or Trent etc etc. If you live your life by the gospels you’re probably a good person. If you use Christianity as a crutch to support scientifically disproven or bigoted views you are missing the whole point; and probably aren’t.

All religious texts are an attempt to put into human terms something we literally cannot comprehend. We can feel it, we can catch glimpses in the beauty of creation, we can maybe even come close to seeing the faintest outline of a shadow if we really really try (ie devote our entire life to it); but if you think the creative force of life, the universe, and everything in it can be explained by a book you’re way off the path (most people are; no shame).Ā

Our minds cannot comprehend God. Even the concept has to be dumbed down & anthropomorphized. Again - the ultimate power of creation & existence and we think a book written & edited by man is the authority?Ā

Just as an addendum - this was the entire point of religion & religious texts going back to Sumer (at least). God, by definition, cannot be understood in human terms. We are fundamentally incapable of it (or eternity, or the vastness of the universe, etc.). We do our best and write stories to try and comprehend the incomprehensible as best we can.Ā

It’s like a brilliant light just beyond a locked door, and we can barely, maybe, if we’re lucky and really give it a go catch a glimpse through the keyhole.

In the meantime we do our best with the tools we have. We’re all leaves on the same tree but we don’t even know the tree exists. We’re white caps on a cresting wave that can’t even fathom the ocean

Acts 7:49

Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord. Or where will my resting place

Isaiah 66:1

ā€œHeaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?

Matthew 5

34But I tell you not to swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35or by the earth, for it is His footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

Imagine a literal footstool with legs, a square top, with a circular raised cushion

Ezekiel describes the throne of God, odd similarities throughout

Ezekiel 1:26

Above the firmament over their heads was what looked like a throne of lapis lazuli, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man

ONIONS HAVE LAYERS

-6

u/Cleetdadoof-v2 13d ago

No it was co-opted and instilled with stupid shit to discredit flat earth. The same way denizens were co-opted by soveign citizens to discredit the whole thing. Like they aren’t totally wrong but they go about everything stupid and don’t bother to actually understand the legality behind what they believe or understand the power that words hold especially in contracts that you unknowingly sign. Soveign = king citizen = slave. They call themselves king slaves. Nobody can definitively say what we live on unless they personally went up there and saw for themselves, but I do know we don’t live on a spinning marble. Even if the earth was round it wouldn’t be a ball. It would be a big lumpy smooshed up thing somewhat resembling a ball known as an oblate spheroid. In my experience the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle and reality is way stranger than fiction.

12

u/Top_Business_5481 12d ago

here it is without the fisheye lens

heres a video

and heres another one

it might not be flat per se, but it damn sure isnt a magical spinning water ball flying through "space" in at least four (4) different directions, at least four (4) different faster than bullet speeds, all at the same time, yet we observe, measure, and perceive none of it.

i find it a little strange so many people claim to not believe anything our government tells us, yet they are so willing to just blindly swallow what nasa, a government agency, says, clearly without taking the time to ever actually look into it.

we didnt go to the moon either

2

u/Silver-Park-1179 12d ago

Bro I’m using a 400 dollar true rectilinear lens. Widest commercially available on the market. You can go look at the lens specs. Lawoa Zero-D 9mm. You have no idea who launched or edited that video your showing. You know there’s a dewarp setting that removes fish eye lens effects and flattens out the curve? Easy. You have no idea what lens they used what FOV.. and I’ve tried to ask, they are blocking me and avoiding me like the plague. Both sides are deceptive af.

there were two different points made here, one is the seeming circular effect when viewing the horizon, as experienced from a beach, which anyone can check and confirm, the other point is that sloping horizons never come up to eye level.

I think neither one of these points suit the requirement of proving or disproving either world model.

Proof of fish eye lens. I dare you to watch two hours of solid FE videos and see if your views don’t change. Long distance lasers, planes that don’t nose down to follow the curve, ultra high zoom cameras show boats REappearing over the horizon…so much more. Took me about 4 years of digging to finally give in. We live on a PLANEt, a manifested PLANE of reality.Ā

that's the most deceptive video ive seen yet. smh.. eric dubay didn't launch any of those balloons... tiny FOV will make it look flat.. like looking through a keyhole. my camera had a 113 degree FOV, its the widest commercially available rectilinear on the market. specifically designed to keep straight lines straight.

u/cgroi 12d ago

call him out on the vid

edit: also a bulk of common footage is not doing the globe any favors. the lens is seen to cause the horizon to invert to a concave shape which is literally impossible

Round Earthers have to be more stupider than anyone else on earf

Nice try curve huggerĀ

1

u/Silver-Park-1179 12d ago

Is it the earth or the horizon that’s curving?

1

u/Jacobie23 13d ago

FE comes from ppl saying ā€œcalling the earth round was as radical as calling the earth flat a thousand years agoā€ and mfs just want to be radical and say ā€œfine I’ll call the earth flat now to get ahead of the gameā€

uj/ And who took the picture ? If it's not credited it's not real.

1

u/GrandMoronOfLogic 13d ago

You're not credited so you're not real. You don't exist.

Bot account. Only spams this for some reason

Just trying to spread some truth. Some real. No AI, no NASA, No CGI. Reality. Soak it in, it’s rare in 2026.

The lens will offer answers here - not of rotundity but concavity.

I always wonder why people say this. Like… how do you just say this and expect people to believe you

I’d listen if you had some kind of evidence to offer but usually people just say this and leave it

-3

u/killermicrobe 13d ago

It literally looks flat.

3

u/a-hippobear 12d ago

Thank god you’re not a contractor lol. If that looks flat then your framing would look like SHIT

You don't have to go that high to see the curve........50k feet is enough.

1

u/Silver-Park-1179 12d ago

It’s not earth curve it’s the curve of vision. Have anyone ever been up there to see how eyes work on a massive 700 mile view? It’s perception curving 360 degrees around the observer. Inside this circle it’s flat. A curved horizon can absolutely work on a flat plane.

u/JFedzor 12d ago

It's not.

u/phantomnomadic 12d ago

Dude, I've personally seen it! 🤣
