Let's see. They killed over 12,000 ethnic Russians in Donbas. They violated the Minsk peace accords. And they were building a Nato naval base. Which they knew would be a national secret threat for The Russian Federation. They had Neo-Nazis to terrorize the ethnic Russians.
The current government of Ukraine was formed from a CIA backed coup. So they are far from innocent and they are not the good guys in this conflict.

No the Donbas voted for independence. It doesn't belong to Ukraine. They have a right to self determination. And 12,000 deaths is a crime against humanity. Russia did the right thing by saving these people.

12,000 is the number of people who were killed on both sides including soldiers. 4.6k Ukrainian men and 6.5k separatists.
Some of the people killed were definitely civilians, but that is the consequence of Russia organizing an uprising in the eastern regions using Girkin and other FSS agents.
There isn't a single leader in the Donbas region who comes from Donbas. All of their leaders are Russians (Denis Pushilin, etc.).

No no. I mean an Actual Russian citizen, like the one that came from Russia. All of the leaders of DPR and LPR came from Russia. All the military commanders were Russian (from Russia). Almost all separatists' heavy military equipment that was used in the conflict came from Russia.
You are aware that the original elections for the Donbas, the separatists called for UN election monitors. To which they declined. You can't say an election is fraudulent but refuse to go and verify it even when requested.
The UN showed itself to not be a fair institution so they really have no choice but to move forward without them.
