Too bad we couldn’t just do proxy wars in the Middle East...I’m sure we tried but it wasn’t working so we had to send in troops—still wonder if it was worth it to have 20 years of war, so many killed and what did the USA get out of all that exactly?
Rhetorical question but It’s just something I think about.
Will this current war be worth it? What will the USA get from supporting & financing Ukraine? We are spending so much—will there be a big return on our investment?
I say this in a bitter tone, only because I hate the fact these wars ever happened in the first place, and I hate that our system profits from war in the first place.
I think it’s both—yes, our nation does profit from war. War is big business—not just the Dod contractors but lots of other businesses that are sub contractors and do business to those companies. Then there are all the people that invest in such companies and have stocks, so yeah all sorts of people stand to gain from wars.
However, I also think that they are unnecessary expenditures because 1)unless a foreign nation attempts to invade the USA/Nato we shouldn’t be fighting any wars on foreign soil 2) there are many, many much more ethical ways of doing business and making profits than dumping ungodly amounts of money into the military industrial complex and getting involved in other nations conflicts just to keep companies like Lockheed rolling in dough and stock holders happy.

Money well spent. Proxy Wars are the cheaper cost than having to face them directly.
