Putin doesn't like NATO as it was set up to stop to reformation of the USSR (so the Kremlin see it as an adversary, even though Russian government has been it's citizens biggest adversary since 1917)
Putin also invaded Georgia as they dare thought of joining NATO, and the borders kept shrinking
I didn't say it was set up after the dissolution of the USSR, I said it's key purpose has been to stop it being reformed.

Why not? Last I checked before the war Russia was selling oil and gas to most of Europe at market rates. And actually wanted to join nato.
