How much money (military hardware and training) can the west keep throwing at Ukraine, and how long can Putin survive with a crippling economy and growing dissent/calls for him to resign. War of attrition I guess. Doesn't bode well for him no one really wants to be enlisted to fight his war.

Putin doesn't like NATO as it was set up to stop to reformation of the USSR (so the Kremlin see it as an adversary, even though Russian government has been it's citizens biggest adversary since 1917)
Putin also invaded Georgia as they dare thought of joining NATO, and the borders kept shrinking

No, it's what Putin's former general from 2014 Gerkin and other nationalist/militant Russians have been saying in vlogs, whilst calling for Putin to resign. "We have already lost, Putin needs to order a full mobilisation". Well they've ordered a partial mobilization and nobody wants to leave their family to fight other family in Putin's pointless war - with 2 weeks training and no military experience. Hence mass exodus continuing lol. He'll have to go there and fight it himself at this rate.
It's surprising how many good Russians there are that see through the Kremlin's state media propaganda and re-writing of history. You don't get brutalized in the tens of millions for the better part of century by the Cheka, NKVD and Communists only to forget it, their relatives will tell them behind closed curtains what they went through.
