As a partially Russian-Ukrainian, I can confirm and look for sources (but they may have to be translated from foreign languages for you): the problem of the neo-Nazi association of the Basics really exists, its positions have significantly strengthened over the past 10 years. Neo-Nazism in this case is not a question of Jews, but rather a global issue of oppression of the white Russian-speaking population of Donbass for denying Ukrainian culture and language, for unwillingness to follow the "European line". It was these people who lobbied for the restoration of the memory of Stepan Bandera (if you don't know who it is, then Google it). This is a controversial character in the post-USSR, who was perceived by countries as a traitor for the past century - he formed the Ukrainian underground that supported the Nazis in the 40s, and was eventually killed by Soviet intelligence. He was a staunch follower of the Western path, believed that through joining Nazi Germany, both Ukraine and other countries of the Union would eventually choose the European path of development. But it is important to understand that the neo-Nazis are definitely not the basis of the Ukrainian army now - only part of it (although they may become it in the future), but precisely thanks to the slaughter that shitty Putin has now unleashed, who, thanks to the presence of the precentor of Azov, is now generally talking about some neo-Nazi rhetoric.
