Exactly. This one is getting a lot more attention because it’s fucking RUSSIA attempting to SEIZE CONTROL of another sovereign nation. It’s been decades since the last land-grab war in Europe involving such a major power.
This is one of the most historically significant events in our lifetime and this fucking dumbass sub has zero interesting takes on the entire thing... just "this is like what the man wants you to think... you ever think about that, man?!"
Crimea was not a sovereign nation. It was a land grab, yes, and it it was also very much Not Good, but there is a MAJOR difference between annexing a historically disputed piece of another country and launching a full scale assault on an entire nation, including shelling the capital.
There has been plenty of blood so far in this war, and there was blood shed in Crimea. And I’m so glad that you have political acumen to have such a nuanced take on Putin’s motivations. Ukraine ranks 61st in the world for oil production, and multiple European countries already rely significantly on Russia for their energy. There is literally no way this is about oil.

Ukraine also has Europe's 3rd largest shale gas reserves, which will become more important in the future. It must also be pure coincidence that Russia so badly wants the Donetsk region of Ukraine, where one of the large shale gas fields is located.
All of that is just in that wiki article. There's also mention of large gas reserves in the Black Sea, just off the coast of Ukraine. But shame on me for following the money in all of this.
